I'm probably gonna end up checking your site out it sounds like a lot of what I was going to do here for GPP but the games talk going on here varies from dead to fucktarded

We'll be glad to have you.

And we're expanding beyond the forums. There's even a prize up for article submission starting October.

...you don't need a whole separate site. This isn't for you. It's for people from Totse that used to post in GPP and those that migrated over to Fragyard when Totse closed.

So migrate over here? What's the problem?

We're not making anything new, we're continuing and expanding an existing community.

... By making your own new site. The community makes the forum what it is, not the other way around. Totse's GPP was simply just another sub-forum. You guys made it what it used to be.

The problem being we're not some random sub-board on a forum we hadn't heard of until last week.

Even if you weren't a bit of a prick and we got off to a good start, we're (those of us running FY) extremely limited in terms of control here - We have forum mods that need rewriting to fit our needs and we can't expect your team to do that for us.

And also because we're more than just a forum.

... By making your own new site. The community makes the forum what it is, not the other way around. Totse's GPP was simply just another sub-forum. You guys made it what it used to be.

Using your words, the community makes the forum - So new site or not, we're the same ol' community.

And GPP wasn't just another sub-board, it's always been it's own niche group.

You're right. Familiarity can be a problem and I understand that. That is one complaint against this forum that is legit and I can't really do anything about except wait and prove to the people that lurk and post that this forum is a forum that is trustworthy and is worth staying at.

Even if you weren't a bit of a prick and we got off to a good start, we're (those of us running FY) extremely limited in terms of control here - We have forum mods that need rewriting to fit our needs and we can't expect your team to do that for us.

Dude, you came in here and blatantly broke the rules, not me. And considering the massive amounts of child porn and advertising spam we've been fighting lately, you're lucky I didn't just ban you and throw this thread in the bin. We've been dealing with these Avoyel fags for way too long now and I'm just about to slit my own throat in frustration. So, with that in mind, I think you can understand why I get a little bit angry when I see yet another thread advertising another forum on my board that I put a lot of hard work, time, and money into to make work as best as I can.

As to the mods... Well... Depends on how specialized you're talking about. SMF does have an AWFUL lot of mods for it but if you're talking about specific server trackers and the like... You'd probably be right. HOWEVER, I am willing to put in certain mods here that have been written by the community so long as I give them a quick check for security reasons.

And also because we're more than just a forum.

Using your words, the community makes the forum - So new site or not, we're the same ol' community.

I understand that as well. Believe me, I do. I've been to a couple clans over the years and been a part of countless groups dedicated to one thing or another. If I may make a recommendation though, try to post here for a bit and see if you guys can integrate smoothly into it. If not, feel free to make your own site. As many people have said though, fragmenting the community even more is about the worst thing we can do right now.

I was only targeting people from Zoklet/Totse - A lot of people chose this site to migrate to so it's the perfect place to reach out to a group of people that already know about us, people you haven't worked to gain (and the people I'm targeting is slim picking compared to the masses that have just flooded this place).

So when that rule was set - Did you set it with an event like this in mind? A huge influx of users from a closed site, migrating here as a stop off point, some staying, some going?

I didn't think so. As I said before, there's mitigating circumstances.

For this to be successful, me and the FY staff would have to come in here making demands and there's just no point in that.

This has been in the pipelines for a long time now and Zoklet's closing is simply the catalyst that got the ball rolling.

As for the plugins etc, we already have someone on the staff proficient in that area, so think of all this as less work to be dumped on you.

To close; you're right, fragmenting the community is the worst thing that could happen, which is why I've made this thread so that people are aware of where to go next if they want to stay with the same group of people.

Very well... If you're really that adamant about doing this, I'm going to propose something else.

If you get enough people to your site and if you can pretty the board up a little bit and sort the site all completely out, I might very well be willing to integrate your forum into our site. (GPP board will link to your site)

That sounds like an idea I could get on board with - I've brought it up with the other staff, will let you know.
