Media examples of drug ignorance and public misconception
« on: September 07, 2014, 09:38:57 pm »
I was just watching an episode of Criminal Minds in which several victims were dosed with LSD at 10-20 times the normal recreational dose, to which the main character--an alleged genius--remarks, "That's enough to kill a small child!"

A quick visit to Erowid would inform you that this is inaccurate. Perhaps he actually meant to say, "a small newborn." Still, we can only speculate upon the lethal dose of LSD as there has been only one human death from overdose.

On the same show, different episode:

People would start bleeding from every orifice in their bodies due to an overdose of ecstasy.

My mom doesn't even know anything about Marijuana and doesn't let me inform her, let alone about any other substance. When I do she ignores me and accuses me of being the bad person and trying to indoctrinate her. Why are people so scared to lean more about drugs? Hell even the word drugs scares them. I just don't get it... I wish people were more informed.

It's funny how she says she will feel sorry for my future kids. At least they're gonna know the cold hard facts and not be lied to their whole lives.

Just about every news article on marijuana concentrates. Not a single reporter knows what the fuck they're talking about.

"Police told the court Slappy's private area was clearly visible throughout his attempted escape and when police approached him behind the Super 8."

Every single news article on kratom too. Holy shit they say some dumb stuff. They call it "another type of bath salts," "hallucinogenic," "another type of Salvia," etc.

Also, "causes addiction and heroin-like withdrawals"

:facepalm::facepalm:

They need to read up on the toxicity (direct) of lsd-25. Try possibly several hundred thousand times normal dosage. This is amazing:

Anybody who overdoses on LSD deserves a medal.

I've seen powdered/crystal lsd for sale on the dnm at my friend's house (doesn't actually buy things just looks) and Goddamn Goddamn Goddamn that scares the shit out of me. I wouldn't want to ever handle the stuff. Or go near it.

I would love to swallow a gram or so just once in my life, but I'd need more space to roam than the goddamn Manhattan Project before I'd consider it. Nobody needs to wake up wearing someone's flesh as a scarf when it could just be cotton mouth and swamp ass, not that they wouldn't deserve it for interrupting.

Old story, but some of you might be entertained, or enraged, by this:

"I can trace the beginning of the end of my role as chairman of the UK's official advisory body on drugs to the moment I quoted a New Scientist editorial (14 February, p 5). Entitled, fittingly enough, "Drugs drive politicians out of their minds", the editorial asked the reader to imagine being seated at a table with two bowls, one containing peanuts, the other the illegal drug MDMA (ecstasy). Which is safer to give to a stranger? Why, the ecstasy of course.

I quoted these words in the Eve Saville lecture at King's College London in July. This example plus other comments I have made – such as horse riding is more harmful than ecstasy – prompted Alan Johnson, the home secretary, to say that I had crossed the line from science to policy. This, he said, is why I had to go."

The tabloids had a field day calling him the 'Nutty Professer' when he got fired.

I saw the two suspects in my scopes, on their Facebooks, socializing with their loser junkie friends, probably talking about how many pounds of reefer they’re gonna inject that day, and then bam! I grabbed those junkies throats and told them they were going to pound town. Two more marijuana addicts off the street, feelsgoodman.jpg.[/url]
