What is a Ghost?
« on: September 30, 2014, 05:01:42 pm »
A Ghost is a soul that has left the body due to death, yet remains trapped in the material world. Ghosts are liminal, that is, they are neither living nor dead.

The exact causes that create a ghost can be traced to the manner in which a person has died. Anyone might become a ghost after death, however people who die sudden and violent deaths are primary candidates for becoming ghosts. When death is sudden, the soul often does not even realize that the body has died and the ghost simply continues living the same routine it had when it was alive. When the death is violent, the tremendous fear which the human mind feels at the moment of death binds the ghost to the people and place it remembers in the last moment of life.

One way of dealing with a ghost is to appeal to a higher spiritual authority. Hanging a crucifix with holy water in your house will help to ward off potential hauntings. Though the ghost has influence over human beings, Christ has influence over the ghost. Another way of dealing with the ghost is to propitiate the ghost with small offerings. Build a small altar to the ghost and offer it candles and incense. This will help to pacify the malintent of the ghost.

I would be interested in the further exploration of the Infrasound theory.

Then again, does it disturb you in the thought that it may still be quite possible for there to be some form of presence with you in a room sometimes that you simply cannot comprehend? Consider that what you perceive as sight is only a collage of still images sampled from a fairly narrow spectrum of light information, and it's not even a live, constant or really even a raw feed. Something could exist plainly in your vision for just a fraction of time yet your brain ordinarily masks over it when assembling the information into a fluid sense of vision.

Who knows what exists where we don't witness it. We are metaphorically in the dark.

Pretas are believed to have been false, corrupted, compulsive, deceitful, jealous or greedy people in a previous life. As a result of their karma, they are afflicted with an insatiable hunger for a particular substance or object. Traditionally, this is something repugnant or humiliating, such as human corpses or feces, though in more recent stories, it can be anything, however bizarre.

All of the true things I am about to tell you are shameless lies.

Who knows what the phenomena referred to as "ghosts" might be. They aren't necessarily souls of the dead of proof of the afterlife.

As with flying saucers, the vast majority can be easily explained and are false sightings, but you only need a single case to be genuine. I believe it may absolutely be worth studying, and the massive bias against the idea and cultural/societal factors, warranted as they may be, do create a far lower chance of this being done by a qualified individual or team. It's also inherently extremely difficult to study properly due to the nature of the events.

The massive bias is because the world is Anthropocentric, the idea we aren't the top of the chain scares us. Reasons to deny UFOs? If they can fly here across lightyears of space they can most likely annihilate us, enslave us, or the worst possible outcome, harvest our farts by probing.

Reasons to deny ghosts? Another intelligent being on our planet that isn't corporeal really scares the shit out of us.
