Is there a way to unsubscribe from topics you've posted in so they stop popping up when there's a new post?

Yep. Although I haven't yet looked into another method of doing this, when you're at a thread, there's a function next to the "Add Poll" and "Reply" functions that lets you make the board notify you of any replies. If it already is, simply click "Unnotify" then and it will be disabled for that thread.

I don't think it works.  The spider thread still shows up for me in the "Show new replies" list.

this is true, I have noticed it takes a minute or so for new posts to show up in the 'recent posts' lineup
