Don't you think there's something to be said for those who stick to their guns despite massive criticism? I think it's particularly noble for him to do it out of kindness for someone else that is a stand-out target for ridicule out of empathy.
Where you and I differ in opinion is exactly how "noble" the cause is. Sure I usually admire people that stick to their guns and maintain some foundational beliefs they won't budge from, but this is hardly in that realm. I mean seriously, break this down piece by piece.
If we are to believe Arnox (granted, now its hard to believe much of anything he says....since he so eagerly and easily lies for whatever selfish agenda) then supposedly he never had any prior friendship or exposure with Zek, since Arnox adamantly claims he was never a part of Zoklet, and was casually part of Totse. So in essence, his experiences before modding Zek barely elapsed over several weeks, and he had maybe a few hundred posts to determine Zek's "quality". It's not like he is sticking to his guns with a true e-friend he has known for years and could develop legitimate respect or admiration for.....its STRICTLY charity case.
Using a different example, if I owned a website and were so valiantly defending someone like Spectral, or Slave, or you.....I could fall back on having YEARS of prior knowledge/examples of that person's character and possible friendship. But instead, Zek has barely been a blip on his radar for any significant time, so there is no cause/purpose/foundational value behind anything he is doing here for himself or the greater good. Instead just falling on the rhetoric of
being kind to one of the most pathetic and disgusting derelicts IRL, and one of the most toxic derailing attention whores online.
To make a real life comparison, it would be as if Arnox found a mangled and maimed antelope in the African plains somewhere. Sure he may have empathy and even pity on such a hapless and defunct creature, and may take a few moments to console it while its living its life in misery. But if a herd of stampeding rhinos is heading right in its direction, there is no cause or purpose to try to stand up to the herd and think either of them will come out unscathed. Instead, the only prudent solution is to walk away, let nature take its course, and not get caught in the stampede as the hapless antelope meets its inevitable and deserved demise because that IS the way of life.
