windows 8.1 update

I have window 8 on my new laptop.. its now asking me if id like to upgrade to 8.1.. should i do it? will i lose my data if i do it?

May not lose data, but what type of computer is it and google the model w/ 8.1 it has bricked a lot of machines.

its an asus. also I've read that with windows 8 you lose the ability to restore to factory settings... wtf

Pssh idk.. my machine has been inable to install 8.1.. It installs it, then restores back to a later date.. pssh, who knows.
