I find that a problem with all this access to information is that there is less incentive to make a thread when I can easily find an answer through google.

Well, while we do indeed promote freedom of information just as the totse days of old, I think what we really focus on is freedom of speech. If anyone's read the latest edition of internet news lately, they might know that 4Chan's been in a huge uproar with this Gamergate BS. People are starting to get banned even there for speaking their opinion.

No one ever believes me it seems when I say this but I think we really are the last place one can go to call each other faggots indiscriminately.

8chan is incredibly divided in subjects/rules compared to this site which is much more unified and that's an image board. Totally different setup.

except for 8chan.co and many other more active better moderated places all around the net the problem is this kind of forum doesn't really have a place. It's not anonymous so free speech is limited there's specialist forums where people will go when they want specific information places like this are good for one thing anymore and it's flaming that's about it
