Members:

I think we should all dedicate as much spare time as possible to posting as much quality content here as possible particularly over the next little while.

Lurkers:

If you want to see this community continuing to exist you should join and start posting.

I think whether or not this forum thrives will depend on how much work is put into the site initially.

It's not that tough of a concept to grasp but think about exponential increase as well as the ripple effect. Now I'm here and the site is better. This trend will continue or go backwards.

If we were to get a lot of action here at this site right from the beginning it could potentially blow up and be way more entertaining than zoklet was. Let's not let this site fall into the same type of stagnation that zoklet eventually did.

"But IWD: Why do you care so much about an INTERNET SITE?! What are you, some kind of VIRGIN?!;

A lot of you zoklet regulars don't realize this but that site had the potential to make you a better person... Not so much in the form of a social outlet for true social outcasts... but in form of razor sharp wit and the collective entirety of everything you've read on there. These sites inspire us all to read lots of things and that builds up over the years.

Lots of reasons. Anyways... fucking contribute some quality shit or I'll find out where you live and fuck your mailbox.

I'd like to copypasta my thoughts on this. They're already nicely written and everything.

Will it ever live up to totse/zoklet?

My answer is, who cares? You shouldn't. People need to stop thinking about how popular we are, how we rate on the latest internet scale of popularity and just be. You shouldn't come here and post because it's got the most members at the time, you should come here simply because you want to be here. You want to post here. To be a part of this community. To have good times. To learn. To meet new people. To laugh...

Totse was a place where one could truly be themselves. To express their thoughts and to read others' thoughts as well, however good or bad they were. We were spoiled at the time though and we didn't really realize what we had until it went. We've gone through many iterations of it, all of them failed in one way or another. And now we're all here. (most of us, at least) And I know it sucks to see something great keep fading. But perhaps that's one of our problems. We keep trying to hold onto the past dearly and the past is just dust, so sooner or later, it all drains slowly out of your hands no matter how much you try to hold onto it.

I think it's time to finally let go and build something new from everything we've learned and experienced. It's time for us to be our own community instead of the "Zoklet" community or the "totse2" community. This place was built because we were all looking for one thing or another. It was built to be a Sanctuary for all so long as they abide by the scant rules we have. A Sanctuary for the mind. I think when we finally realize how much it doesn't matter if we live up to Zoklet or totse or what have you, we can begin to finally build something new and unique. We can become us, whoever that may be as we go on, as we live our lives, as we post here.

And the new members will come... We may not have any advertising going yet, but that's going to change once we finally get everything ready and streamlined here. So don't worry about it for now. Just relax. Just be.

Keep in mind though, we'll have to do a little bit of advertising first if we want our numbers to go up.

A lot of you zoklet regulars don't realize this but that site had the potential to make you a better person... I agree. Now is definitely a good time to try and contribute a bit more. I've personally found the lack of a thanks system has encouraged me to post a little bit more. Although other than that it's pretty much business as usual. I find that a problem with all this access to information is that there is less incentive to make a thread when I can easily find an answer through google.

Well, while we do indeed promote freedom of information just as the totse days of old, I think what we really focus on is freedom of speech. If anyone's read the latest edition of internet news lately, they might know that 4Chan's been in a huge uproar with this Gamergate BS. People are starting to get banned even there for speaking their opinion.

No one ever believes me it seems when I say this but I think we really are the last place one can go to call each other faggots indiscriminately.

except for 8chan.co and many other more active better moderated places all around the net the problem is this kind of forum doesn't really have a place. It's not anonymous so free speech is limited there's specialist forums where people will go when they want specific information places like this are good for one thing anymore and it's flaming that's about it
