I've always wanted a small dog like that so I could teach it to do flips

This one just might have it in her. She's flips, flops and flies all over the place.

Yeah, she's exceptionally fast. The only problem is, when I take her for a run, she'll always glance to her right to make sure that I'm running with her. When she does this, she sees the part of her leash that is suspended in midair and jumps because it scares the hell out of her.

I've taken to giving her a firm "No!" and showing her the leash, so she understands that it isn't something to be afraid of. Despite wanting to comfort her when things like this happen, I can't - since it will have a detrimental effect and encourage her already timid and fearful behavior. It's hard, but I want her to be assertive and confident. I want to show her that from now on, there is nothing to be afraid of anymore.
