Welcome to my shits going to shit thread! Here I outline some shit that is going to shit. Today we will be loling at Mexico for going south so quickly. (Pun completely intended)
So a few weeks ago some 43 college students just kinda disappeared in Mexico. Seriously! What kind of place is it where 43 adults can just be taken and no one gives a shit. So I guess people started getting mad.
After weeks fielding questions about the abduction and apparent massacre of 43 trainee teachers by corrupt police in league with drug gang members, Mexico's Attorney General Jesus Murillo has had enough. ... Protesters who have railed against the government's handling of the case sprayed the phrase "I've had enough .. of fear" on the entrance of the Attorney General's office overnight.
Hundreds of protesters in the Mexican state of Guerrero have attacked government buildings in the capital, Chilpancingo, burning cars.
They accused the government of involvement in the murder of 43 students in the town of Iguala in September.
The protest came after the attorney general said gang members had confessed to the killings.
He said the students were killed by the criminals acting on police orders.
Mexican Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam said three alleged gang members had claimed the students were handed over to them by police.
They said some were already asphyxiated and they shot the others dead, before setting fire to all the bodies.

That is why the thread is called Shit going to shit. Mexico is a shitty place and I am highlighting how its getting even shittier. This series focuses on shit tier countries on a downward spiral.

mexican 'indians' never even independently developed the wheel, so mexico has always been a shithole
during the pre-colombian era they were doing the same old things the drug cartels are doing to people now, except they did it for 'religious' reasons rather than financial

Mexico could use a good governmental revamp, its practically run by cartels as it is.
as long as the overthrow does not put the cartels directly in power, it will be a good thing.

Dude, shit would be so cash if the cartels became the official face of the Mexican govt. Think about it, all drugs would become legal in mexico, half the country would be in a mad dash north and we would literally have to wall off Mexico. And not that shitty fence they have, like a legit wall. Once the cartels notice they aren't getting aid from America + no one will do trade with them + no way of sustaining its people they would say "Time to knock down the wall and take what belongs to us!"
Meanwhile you are at the lunch table with you nice white family in rural America. You see on the news that the Cartel Administration has broken The Wall and Cartel troops are storming the US in a bid to take our superior infrastructure. You turn to look out the window and see smoke in the distance. All your neighbors are running north. You tell your family to stay inside and lock the door. You walk outside and see one of your close friends from the town council. Flocks of screaming white people who look like they have been in a war zone run past you "Whats going on" "Its all over! The only hope is to get to the boarder!" why would they keep their only real source of income illegal?
because profit margins?
edit - Even if they didn't sell some of their drugs wholesale to other cartels within mexico itself, having drugs legal in one country would make it more likely that other countries would consider 'legalization'

hahaha if the cartels did come to power, it would definitely be interesting from an international relations perspective. how would the US handle it? what would become of NAFTA?
it would probably be like Escape from LA lmao
EDIT: this also takes into account that all the cartels magically get along. which they most definitely do NOT right now.

they did not give one single fuck when Uruguay legalized weed. they don't give one single fuck drugs are legal in Amsterdam.
Yeah, you are right, you win this debate. I guess the cartels would throw a big party if drugs were legalized in the countries where they make their fortunes....they would not care at all that their profits will disappear, seeing as how they are motivated by money and all.

You need to think about what you are saying. If all drugs were legal in all countries then no more under the table business for them. Given that they already produce a majority of North Americas drugs why do you not think they would just go legal if they already have the means to sustain large drug manufacturing operations?

because the profit margins are so much higher with illegal drugs.
you need to think about this: if the cartels wanted drugs legalized, they would be well on the way to being legalized. the 'cartels' are more than just a bunch of sweaty mexicans cutting each others balls and heads off and shit, they bleed into all sorts of legal areas already. Haven't you ever wondered why drugs stay illegal pretty much everywhere, in spite of all the damage done by the drug war, and the relative harmlessness of drugs compared to the legal recreational consumables? Its because the 'cartels' and their allies put their money and influence into maintaining the status quo....and rightly so, because the money is so much better with their commodity being illegal

if all drugs were legalised in America, the pharmaceuticals industry would dominate the market with existing infrastructure to create superior product. that, and the upper management of said companies are already entrenched in the government.
so pharmaceutical companies have superior product, pre-existing infrastructure making for lower costs and pre-existing sales channels - what chance do the cartels have?
regardless, 'the cartels' aren't a congruent group - they tend to hate each other as much as they hate the military groups trying to stop them, which prevents any one of them from gaining a major foothold over the others.
