Title: Saving money
Post by: helladamnleet on October 28, 2014, 03:20:44 am
So check it out, yo, I started saving change, and I counted it the other day and I have like $60 in change, so I started counting my other money and realized I have $1 bills like I have quarters, so I'm going to start saving those too in hopes of amassing $600. Once I do that I'm going to start saving $5 bills until I have $3000, then $10 bills until I have $6,000, et cetera et ceterio, then I'm going to leave my fucking stupid ho of a wife and jack off to myself in the mirror every day while squeezing velveta into my asshole.

Good think I don't have cancer and would refuse any 'treatment' anyway.

it's obviously not a bad idea; what you're talking about. Why don't you just load 5 or 10 dollars a week into some sort of mutual fund?

Yeah, I know. I shouldn't have shitpost, but honestly, what advice could I give that any of you would listen too?

But yeah, I save all my change, which has built up to about $60 over the last few months, and have enough money going through my hands that I can start saving $1 bills for now.

My plan is semi-real though. I am going to save $1s until I have $500-1000 hidden away, then start saving $5s, et cetera. My ultimate plan is to have well over $10k hidden in case my marriage goes sour.

I think Eminem wife tried to save a thousand dollars till someone broke in anand stole it.  And it hurt so bad it broke her heart.  And it seemed like everything was just starting to fall apart. Eminem and Kim was arguing a lot so Kim moved back to Chalmers in an apartment flat

Now go through all the dimes and quarters looking for silver.

I've only found one quarter that was made with silver in my change, to date. It was minted in 1942 (which one isn't denoted), I noticed it among my change when placing it within my pocket, the resonance whilst colliding among the other coins being audibly-discernible. I retrieved it with curiosity, noticing it fairly worn upon closer scrutiny. It's appearance was slightly more luminous in nature, though to it's cause, I'm not privy. I assume it's the silver content, which at the market price value at the time (about a year ago) resulted in a total worth of $5-6 USD. I received it at a 7-Eleven.

Of course you did. Whoever spent it probably knew it was worth more, but needed another quarter to buy a foety

I have a friend that does this now and then. They'll go to the bank and just get a $20 roll of quarters, take the good ones, cash the rest back in, and call it a day.

I didn't know they made $20 rolls of quarters.

I didn't think to start looking through my change until after I stopped working the register / tip jar, but I ended up with 2 silver dimes. We'd always cash the tip coins into bills at the end of the day too so I only ever had less than a dollar in change a shift, I can only imagine what I let slip through. Also the chances of finding anything in a roll of quarters from the bank are so low, it's not 'just find a couple good coins' its go through a box of rolls and find a couple maybe. There's lots of information dedicated to the hobby, but meh seems like a lot of work for no reward. No harm in checking your coins though, if you have a lot it wouldn't surprise me if you found a silver one or two. If the coin is in good condition its potentially worth more than the melt value. Just cool to have though.

Someone here or on zoklet said they've bartered silver coins to buy shit from convenience stores. Probably Asians and Indians would be willing to negotiate.
