I don't understand why they would be butt hurt. Everyone here had the opportunity to migrate to whatever forum they wanted they so chose, or to fade from the scene entirely.. lol.. I'm generally online for about 6-8 hours every night given my current sleep schedule, and between working on my own personal website side project.. I was really scrambling to try and warn people about those links because no mods or Admins were on and I didn't know of any efficient way to contact one. Glad to see it was taken care of in a timely fashion. Bit ridiculous really, but I may know how to at least slow that shit from happening again.. Again, glad to see it's been taken care of.

As a general comment I would say when you inherit a userbase and decorate the place in such a fashion as to indicate it's their original 'home', for the sake of relative harmony it to some extent must become a two-way street. Zok never accepted this and it eventually cost him his health and his site.

We all "use" the internet.. We are not entitled to any particular forum, board, or website short of anything that isn't a personal manifestation. Call it a difference in philosophy. I'll even admit to my sentimental nature of &Z and &T, which.. to an extent brought me here. At the same time, I'm not complaining, and there are just as many members who aren't as the few that are.. So why is it that we must all suffer at the hand of the eternally un-appeased? Not unlike you, who have come here to IS and.. repetitively reminded us of how "Zok" failed.. blah blah blah... Almost as if you feel obligated to forewarn of impending doom. If you truly feel such a way, why continue staying aboard your prophesied sinking ship? Truth is, in all the years I've been surfing the internet....the thousands and thousands of posters I've come across over various BBS's, blogs, and comment sections....Slave IS one of the finest, funniest and most entertaining people I've ever seen find a keyboard. Definitely in my top 10, possibly top 5. If you could get past the fact he uses verbiage you don't approve of, you'd see that too. I've been watching this guy post for close to 8 or so years now, and while I don't always agree with his perceptions or even his politics....he still IS a capable and entertaining communicator. Period.
I just don't think you live your life like I do, and so many others on here. Tell me Arnox, when was the last time you had hostile conflict with another human being...even if just exchanging words in the middle of traffic? Perhaps you live your life meek and mild and avoid it at any cost, but these kinds of things don't scare me...in fact I thrive on it. I myself probably called at least 2 different people a cunt just this week, and even got into a shouting match with some dolt outside of a store the other day. Probably the most fundamentally honest and factual thing in this thread. Personally couldn't do it.. If I were to ever attempt to make a board or forum such as this, there wouldn't be as much leniency.. successful forums aren't run by the peons. Sure, a lot of people here wouldnt cut it.. and I'd be fine with that. I also would cut off open registration after a while to prevent alt accounts and general havoc.. hosting private boards would add to intrigue and probably spur more quality content. I'd probably open registration back up from time to time or allow for invites from established members..
But this shit.. I personally wouldn't deal with. Take your whinny self righteous asses and you'd have to go somewhere else with it. It's like you have the mentality that you feel entitled to being made mods or defining how this board is run.. when you don't. Exactly, I'm the gype of guy thats has had to work for everything he has, even those groceries you don't pay for. I'm far from white collar though, and have learned how to get through life by also working smart over working hard.. and gaining an edge through suspect, albeit legal means. Sure, I've scammed.. I believe in the freedom of all information except for that which is directly personal. I believe that a person should have complete freedom over any an everything they do, as long as it doesn't indirectly effect someone else.. You can have fringe conversation, talk about the truth of politics, discuss drug making and even less than legal means to modify things that are not to be tampered with.. created.. whatever.. Maybe its just my generation, because I'm still a bit old school....but I hold people to their word. If you say you are going to do something, YOU DO IT. You make a promise to people....YOU FOLLOW THROUGH ON IT.
Using your grocery store analogy....of course I pay for the groceries. But if I take a can off the shelves labelled "pineapple chunks", and then get home to open it and find its actually tomato paste....I'm at least going to contact the grocer and let him know there is some kind of fuck up somewhere. And depending on his response and demeanor is how I'll proceed accordingly after.

I also would cut off open registration after a while to prevent alt accounts and general havoc.. hosting private boards would add to intrigue and probably spur more quality content. I'd probably open registration back up from time to time or allow for invites from established members..
But this shit.. I personally wouldn't deal with. Take your whinny self righteous asses and you'd have to go somewhere else with it. It's like you have the mentality that you feel entitled to being made mods or defining how this board is run.. when you don't. Using your grocery store analogy....of course I pay for the groceries. But if I take a can off the shelves labelled "pineapple chunks", and then get home to open it and find its actually tomato paste....I'm at least going to contact the grocer and let him know there is some kind of fuck up somewhere. And depending on his response and demeanor is how I'll proceed accordingly after.

I have no endgame, all any message board is for me is mental masturbation....whether I'm posting on "normal" threads/topics or exposing people's blatant hypocrisy.
And no...if they keep insisting on tellng me its really pineapple chunks, I don't just learn to like the taste of tomato paste or just move on my merry way saying "awww shucks". There are plenty of other ways I might deal with them, not nearly as black/white or as passive as you suggest.

Haha I think I may have almost tried not to like you, but.. what can I say, you have a refreshing air for not being overly serious and the ability to let subtle disagreements go. I have to respect that. If it's any consolation, while our ideals on something regarding how this board should be run are way off mark.. I personally hope you don't get banned. I've been going through my latest updated posts, and you do shitpost sometimes... but your not the worst at it, and at least yours are usually funny. And your right, to an extent as well.. it's good to stand up for things you believe in and push for progressive change. Truthfully Rook, you really are reading into that insinuation as being "harmful" because you don't particularly care for my tactics and think my endgame is to be "harmful". Again, someone that is "not passive"....could take the approach of trying to introduce the grocer to a different and more efficient canning company so similar fuckups don't happen again, which could potentially be more profitable for the grocer all the while I might get some kind of cut as a commission, or even just be able to take home a superior product in the future.
And if you take careful note of how I've been approaching Arnox throughout a lot of this, much of my focus has been the bigger picture of what it takes to attract and retain new users. I've been saying that time and time again, IMPLORING him to reassess what it means to mod someone that doesn't stand for the ideals or fit in with the culture/subject matter we are discussing here. And instead of giving me or anyone else a legitimate answer about any of that, he's been insulting and dismissive.....despite the fact I myself have been trying to point out a way he could make this place more viable and enjoyable.

Not in your mission statement, and no in earlier discussions about being professional, stable, fair, etc.
And you also keep glossing over the fact his outlook/ideology/posting habits are the absolute anti-thesis of most of the subject matter that is discussed here. He is not a leader or example of the tone or atmosphere of this place. Even if there was a consensus that he was "nice", and was Paypalling every member $10/weekly out of his "nice" heart...he STILL wouldn't fit in or be an appropriate leader. When will you address THAT part of the equation, and quit leaning on the crutch of "nice" as your only explanation for modding this freak?
