Decent mods on Zoklet were the exception rather than the rule.  Maybe it was some issue with the admins that prevented the mods from doing a good job.

We'll probably never know! :)

Good mods are hard to find, good mods that actually want to improve something are a rare commodity, the problem unfortunately starts at the top, if the top guy isn't into it and motivated, the lower ranks suffers. Zok unfortunately had that issue, if he created a task force of people that were reliable and actually wanted to do stuff for the community and make things success, we wouldn't be here, but you can't blame him, plus unfortunately the community in itself was very toxic to the idea of change and real communication.

I learned that by doing face to face talk and actually trusting the right people, you could get things done and win their loyalty and trust.  That type of setup doesn't really work on a grand scale but it's pretty good.

Not sure it can be implemented here because it pretty much means sharing your resources and control with others. The way I have setup things is, if someone says they need XYZ to work on things, I give them access to it. But it works because I trust them.

And I trust them because I know they're good and won't harm me or others. Pretty hard thing to work out on. Takes a long time to get used to it.

Now with Zoklet, sheesh, since I was a mod there and really wanted to make a difference, I know how fucking hard it is to get something done. Plus you have 6-10 guys over you and you can't get a proper dialogue, and you know the state of the forum and changes.

It took me a week to add improvements that far exceeded Zoklet. And Zok is Dev/programmer, I don't even stand a chance against him, yet in a way I did beat him when it comes to actually creating a workflow.

The point is, the resources where there, the community was there, it just wasn't harnessed correctly and the same will happen here and on other clones as a matter of fact. (unfortunately).

And I am not pulling all of this from thin air, I did my research I spent hours reading up, checking and working on different ways to run stuff. It's a bitch to make things work in a productive way but it can be done.

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Does that mean you've made your own website? If so, please give Psychomanthis a moderating position so he not only has a reason to live, but will no longer have a reason to post here ever again.

How insightful... did you learn this before or after modding TDR?

Haters gonna' hate.

Just out of curiosity where are the rest of your former, or soon to be former, colleagues headed once Zoklet finally goes down?

Err don't really have mods on the websites, they're mostly Admins or pretty much full control over the websites. I simply removed the Moderating system.  It was a failure from the start, created elitism. So, you join you're a user like others, something bad happens, there always people around to snoop in and fix it. Something needs to be done, anyone available handles it.

So instead of one dude, you got dudes with equal control. Problem is, finding the right people.

TDR, you can have tons of beef with him, he does troll Zoklet hard and it's a known fact. I don't deny it, and even he doesn't. Regarding his role on the other website, he has been honest and upfront about it.  He steps in and contributes when he can. But since everything was on pause/hold you don't see much from anyone these days. That will soon change once things are working again.

Dfg, do you accept that TDR ran off most of your userbase, myself included, once you made him an Admin and in the years since your site has never recovered from his actions?

Holy shit...talk about a HISTORY REWRITE. All that prattle as if you have any knowledge on how to run a BBS, and you've fucked it up multiple times now. How many reboots/try agains are you on any how? 4? 5? More?

As has already been stated, putting TDR in any position of power has royally fucked up anything you've tried to accomplish....but on top of that you change your focus and ideology every time the wind blows. How the fuck can you even make the claim of knowing what makes a "successful" website, when you haven't achieved double digit regular members since you fucked it up the first time. You are in CONSTANT refresh/change mode....and with every incarnation it gets lamer and more comical.

It's hilarious how I generated a huge amount of content for totse.info, but then TDR stepped in and openly broke the rules and he suddenly became dfg's best buttbuddy. They even went so far as to make it to where my account couldn't post anything yet it didn't say I was banned so they could say "he quit posting he isn't banned". Lies and bullshit all around lol

Yup...they pulled the same fuckin games with me too. I even had the courtesy to approach DFG before I regged at the first website, just so he knew I didn't mean any harm and just wanted to help out. Instead, TDR was so far up his ass....he cast aside so many legitimate users and contributors, and then played the games like you described.

And here he is now....trying to spew some mantra of "unity", all the while wanting to sing Koom-Bye-Ah by the fire. Probably one of the worst liars ever to find the Totse/Zoklet community, and THAT is saying something.

DFG has always typed a lot of shit but never really said anything of real worth, it's like a handicapped person is typing every single post, it's painful to read and if you make it to the end you've often got a 95% chance of cringing. Dfg is just simply full of shit, he doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't know how else to put it into words, so unlike dfg I'm going to spare you all and not even try.

I have nothing against her...but, I really have nothing for her, either. She really did have a huge hand in running Zoklet completely into the ground. And, like I said before - it's really funny how now that everything is said and done, everyone pretty much agrees that the Zoklet administration was woefully inept.

I just don't understand how she could find people that wanted to be mods/admins that badly, yet suck so unbelievably hard at it. It's mind boggling. Take Psychomanthis for instance. He loved being a moderator/admin. He relished the opportunity and cherished every single moment. That, on it's own, is pretty gay but at least forgivable. What isn't forgivable is that he loved his no pay job more than anything in the world, yet couldn't bring himself to be even remotely effective or good at it.

The whole thing is absolutely baffling.

yeah i used to the same way, nothing against her, and nothing for her. but the more i saw her posts and the way she talked during the end of zoklet, well she just came off like derpa derpa i'm right everyone derpa derpa. i remember someone saying something about her avatar being kind of ridiculous, b/c it's kind of like one of the guys using an image of brad pitt if that makes any sense or me using some lucy liu picture. now i just see it and get more derpa derpa cancer. as one of mods that helped the least/did the worst for zoklet, she's been acting all high and mighty.
