in all reality the majority of the DSM should be considered fiction.  ffs...their latest serving of butt-fuck-soup is that anyone that is contradictory to authority is considered a defective.

psychology has only slightly less validity than tarot card reading or astrology.

Meh, there's two sides to this argument. Both are valid to a point.

Until we understand the human brain and its mechanisms better we will be unable to accurately describe mental afflictions. That being said, modern psychology and neuro science, while still deficient in some areas are the path to that understanding. Yes the DSM-V is not perfect but it is a start.

I'd like to add PTSD to this list. I've been recently diagnosed with this label. It is often overlooked or omitted from "lists of disorders". My family and friends don't believe its a (real problem) so in addition to the disorder I suffer from the "stigma" that Im just malingering.
I guess they are right and it is just all in my fucking head.

After reading all of these symptoms, I'm pretty sure I have at least fifty percent of these maladies. Considering my options now. What do you guys think , suicide ?

Dissociative Identity Disorder, better known as multiple personalities, is stated as occurring with about 1% prevalence in the general population--still far greater than anywhere outside of the United States. Still, I once interviewed a psychiatrist for an assignment who specialized in dissociation, and she swore that a more accurate figure would be 3-4%. Of course I'm incredulous of her claim, but I do plan to work in her field one day in some capacity and I'd like to see for myself what makes her so sure. I believe that some patterns we see as highly disorganized and abnormal are more common than we can see.
