I swapped mik for soya milk for a few months, then ended up trying milk again. It's fucking vile. Honestly the taste and the smell knocks me sick

I went on a 10 day water fast and then slowly reintroduced my body to different foods.  It was like eating everything for the first time. I absolutely hate sugar. It is a vile thing to poison food. If people were more in tune with their food and the true tastes of different ingredients, they might have a healthier relationship with food.  Instead, we just add tons of sugar to everything to drown out the flavors.

A little sugar balances out the vinegar and acid from the tomatoes.......but yeah don't use any sugar.......

You just need something sweet, not necessarily sugar.  You could just as easily add honey or fruit juice.

What's wrong with brown cane sugar?

Nothing is wrong with brown cane sugar. Lots of different curries and other south Asian dishes call for different types of sugar as well. I actually love sweet foods which is funny to me as I usually don't like dessert.

They're making it sound like sugar ruins everything.....

I use light brown cane sugar most of the time in sauces instead of white sugar. Sometimes I use raw unfiltered honey.

This might sound crazy, but the next time you crave a PB&J, get some Peanut butter, Honey and jalapeno raspberry jam. It is quite satisfying.

Recommend stevia as a sub for sugar. Depending on the season, what type of tomatoes you choose and where they are from you might get away without adding any sweetener but I would advise holding out judgement until you taste the final product.

Stevia tastes like shit.

It might not be for everyone and you might have to get used to the flavor or try a different brand/blend but at least it is not some highly toxic chemical like aspartame.

Honey or fruit juice would drastically change the taste of this recipe however.

I have used jalapeno jelly as a sub for BBQ sauce....awesomeness. Little sweet, little spicey, not all runny and gooey. Also with marmalade as a dipping sauce for coconut shrimp and the like.

I've had raspberry jalapeno jam. It's a slightly weird yet defnitely tasty combination. I also used to eat peanut butter and honey sandwiches instead of PB&J when I was younger.

My jar is about to run out so I will try making my own. Though that's for a different thread.

Interesting. I'll have to give that a try if you post the recipe.
