Auto thumbnailing images, don't allow animated signatures, etc.
« on: September 02, 2014, 01:48:08 am »
I have noticed that if you post an image here, it posts it as its actual size which is going to quickly become a problem for your servers and the user experience if that is left the same. You should install the auto thumbnail plugin so no matter how large the true resolution is, we will always see it as a nice, uniform thumbnail at 100x100. Prevents long page load time for your slower connection users and server load for you.

Disable the ability to use animation in signatures. That's just annoying.

Do not allow users to change the font and color of their text so wildly that it can easily be used to troll. There is a member here that is already doing that.

Just some protips that will help everyone involved. ;)

The website will automatically scale a large image to fit the page if that's what you're talking about.

Gifs in avatars, eh, maybe. Maybe not. I haven't seen them get bad yet, and if you have AdBlock Plus, you can disable them yourself as well.

Color I'm fine with but I may just take away the font size BBCode. Again, we'll see. I've already taken out that stupid moving text BBCode for starters.

I mean, it would look a whole lot cleaner if you installed a auto-thumbnail plugin to reduce the size of a posted image to a site-wide uniform standard of 100x100 pixels. If a user wishes to see the full resolution image, they can just click on it. Some plugins even magnify the thumbnail on mouse-over. It would be a lot neater looking and not fill up a whole "post box" with the image.

Don't do .gifs in avatars. That's just annoying, just like scrolling text was. Thank you for at least disabling that.

Color of text can be alright, I guess. I personally think it looks better as a standard uniformity for everyone, but meh. Jacking up the font to 50pt for example, that's just annoying.

Could you install Zoklet's emoticon package?
