Some Small Tips for Far Cry (Original)
« on: November 21, 2014, 09:16:51 pm »
So, I decided to take a bit of a nostalgia trip and reinstalled the first Far Cry on my compooter. It's been good times but some things have annoyed me about the game.

First things first. If you've just installed FC, when you actually start the game, you're screen may be almost completely whitish blue. Don't worry though, getting rid of this is very easy. You just need to install the 1.1 patch or later. You can get the latest update (1.4) here. It should be cleared right up then.

Another thing you may notice is how your mouse sensitivity is cut by more than half when you're aiming. Although this is normal, it's pretty terrible when you're getting shot from behind and you're trying to turn around but your mouse has seemingly been iced over. Anyway, you can also fix it to have it so it doesn't do that crap when you aim but it will be a little more tricky.

Go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Ubisoft/Crytek/Far Cry/FCData/ (install path for the game may be different for your system) and then copy and paste the Script.pak file over to the desktop. Then, change the extension of the file to .zip by renaming it. Then open it in a file archiver (7zip is good for this) of some sort. Now, extract the whole SCRIPTS folder to the desktop. Now get out of that. From the Desktop, go to Scripts/Default/Hud/ and open up the ZoomView.lua file in Notepad. Do a Ctrl + F search for the words "SetMouseSensitivityScale". It will be the first result. Now you'll see the number right next to it in the parentheses. It should be ( 0.3 * self.Old... etc. right now. Change that number to 1.0 and then save it. Then repack the SCRIPTS folder you just saved to your desktop into a .zip file somewhere. Name it Scripts.zip. The same as the last one. Then change the extension on your new Scripts zip to .pak. Then replace the old Scripts.pak file in your FCData folder with your new one that has the changes you made. And boom, you're done.

I'm also looking for anything that will give you unlimited stamina but I couldn't find anything sadly. So if anyone knows, be sure to let me know so I can put it in this guide and steal all the credit. ;)

One last thing. Here's a massive HD Far Cry wallpaper for you people out there.

And that's about it. Happy hunting.

Try a trainer, they usually have it all.

Yeah, I could go that route but I was hoping for something like a simple file edit like above or a console command of some sort to be honest. Thanks though.
