Shit's going down!

http://rt.com/usa/206347-ferguson-verdict-missouri-emergency/

http://governor.mo.gov/news/executive-orders/executive-order-14-14

This is what I've been looking for every morning. Damn, and X was planning on checking if his drugs had arrived and doing a test dose to be safe.

I hope there are riots here too. Better get ready, just in case.

Damn, 21F in St. Louis: https://www.google.com/search?q=st+louis+weather&oq=st+louis+weather

Terrible weather for riots. Low 60s/high50s with little wind here. Hope it doesn't disappoint and enough people believe the false narrative to chimp out over this.

It's a grand jury, genius. They don't determine guilt or innocence.

I kinda have to agree. Like all good liberals I'm obviously opposed to police brutality and whatnot but it feels like the protests that have been happening in the lead up to the decision are sort of a threat to the jurors. I hope they make their decision based on the evidence and not the threat of civil unrest.

Fucking this.

That's almost exactly what I've been thinking all day, because that's exactly what these apes are doing. They staged a "die-in" in the middle of an intersection today. Seriously. And, I thought I'd heard it all...

There's a saying amongst prosecutors that they could indict a ham sandwich if they wanted to. So a failure to indict often means the prosecutor has no interest in actually trying the case.

For fucks sake, they let the cop testify in front of the grand jury. The accused almost never gets to do that, because it never helps the prosecution, and greatly aids the defense. This is a crystal clear indicator that the powers that be don't even want to bother with a jury trial, they just want to let him go.
I'll try anything once, and twice to be sure.

Jesus they should just hang the cop out to dry. It's not like he'd be the first possibly innocent person to take one for civil unrest's sake. Riots, property damage and the casualties it'll cause are just not worth one fucked up cops life

Damn, if it's as cold there as it is here.. To hell with all that rioting bullshit, I'mma keep my ass in doors and warm next to this nice fire I have rollin. I have no real opinion as to whether I think the cop was justified or in the wrong.. I wasnt there.. Evidence points to a struggle in the autopsy report, but lets face it.. unless you see it, all information can be skewed.. Living in an area or effectively sheltering in and/or being involved in a riot definitely sounds interesting, but.. I'll take y peace and quiet in the country any day. Let shit go down, see if I care.. give me something to read about tomorrow morning.

But there's more to it than just the immediate outcome. Allowing the justice system to make decisions based on popular opinion sets a dangerous precedent which, if followed, would lead to much worse consequences than some riots. It's like the "don't negotiate with terrorists" thing.

Iirc the saying was about grand juries, a prosecutor was bragging that he could get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich if he wanted them to.  The statement was about how the grand jury system in the US is corrupt beyond measure

just wanted to note that, it has little to do with the topic of this thread, so forgive me for intruding on the conversation

That's the thing though. The grand jury isn't determining guilt or innocence. They are (supposedly) only supposed to determine if there is enough evidence basis for a trial. At this point, anyone who claims that there isn't enough evidence is either high, mentally deficient, or just wants an excuse to let him off.

Edit: corrected for a more accurate statement.
