how far can you get into this? i start fucking up around 8-9 tiles
Forgot about this. I remembered once before, but then forgot about it again.
First attempt. Accidentally clicked a wrong tile once. I seem to start fucking up around 9, nothing special. Edit: 11/2875 on second. Second edit: I took another hit before my third attempt, then didn't do as well and got discouraged, acknowledged that I may have gone past optimal, and gave up. I don't know if I did (nicotine), it's more about not liking the feeling of bumping up against natural limits. I feel I should resist aspieing out over it, I have some urge to.
I don't know how well I could do, I sure as hell don't feel optimal right now (specifically at this moment). Took a bit of nicotine before it, but I'd be a hell of a lot better on a stimulant/ADD med and some caffeine. I wish the MAOI I'm taking would fully kick in already.
There's definitely a strategic element. Just look at the strategies used in memory championships. In this case it's mainly chunking and pattern recognition/creation AFAIK. Clicking as fast as accurately possible and doing the hardest chunks to remember first should be obvious. Luck is obviously a factor since some patterns are easier to memorize than others, so you could get a high score just by being lucky, which I don't like. I can also see a sort of after image, at least up to a certain point, but I don't know if it's due to the color change or if it just feels like an after image.
Oh, this may be perfect for you. I found this years ago and it was addicting and tons of fun, trying to get my scores as high as possible, creating strategies, trying to optimize my actions/behavior as much as possible, seeing how I compare to others and what I particularly stand out at, what my natural strengths might be. The games and interface are great, best I've found, and it's free:
