Vote on a Thanks System

How about a "Like" system? A spur of the moment kinda thing. Way better!

EDIT: Just like they have on Facebook. This way people can't like4like each other because it doesn't hold any value except for just that one post.

Do you mean people can only like the OP or... ? How does this differentiate from a Thanks system?

I think he means where you can like a post but it doesnt count towards anything. I could see where it would be nice because you could "thanks" for something just because it was lulzy or informative and doesnt count towards anything other than showing appreciation for that singular post.

Arnox has mentioned that there isn't a system available that wouldn't aggregate a total number of thanks/likes/(verbiage isn't as important), or else it probably would have been implemented.

I think it's a good idea.  Regardless of calling it thanks or like or karma or...

But on a post to post basis, not just the OP or something.  Just a lil something to show a poster that you appreciated his/her post for some reason. If it's shown in a profile this could be useful i think (sets real contributers apart).  Then again: a good deed (post) is it's own reward so... not so relevant to me.
 As for the % of total 'likes'... i don't really see the added value of that.

Unfortunately as we have seen in the past a system like this is subject to promotion abuse by trolls rather than accurately gauging a posters contribution quality. Thats the problem I have with a thanks system that records how many thanks you have because it becomes a game for a small minority to give each other an inordinate amount of thanks.

Didn't we already discuss this.  I voted no, again.

Although if we are going to get one, have it only positive, no negative, caz down vote spamming is so kidiot.  Also make it so you only get 1 thank every, say, 50 posts.  That way 1) throwaway alts can't thank spam 2)thanks will mean more and 3) it might help promote activity or at least make people work for their thanks.
