It takes some practice, bit you can also hide fingerprints by using the sides and middles of your fingers and the both sides of the cups of your hands to handle, pick up and turn objects. I was with a girl before who asked a cop "did you ever put up another mirror ( one of those fake glass ones like off TV) on the other wall and try to see into infinity" while he was walking into a pizza place and he said "what are you?" and she said "I'm an earthling" and then a brief exchange and we were with like 6 other people who didn't want her acting weird around a cop and she kinda realized this and we left.

Well then, the short-bus would be you. Up until the late '80's, nothing but finger prints were taken by authorities. This means that all those billions of sets of prints, if they have not been updated, do not include edge-prints or full palm prints at all. Corrections officers didn't take anything but normal fingerprints either. Now, if you were printed in the '90's, then you're fucked, but that's a minority, really. It's not all just about you, kid.
