Ultimate Mossin Nagant

This guy took his Mossin and upgraded it quite a bit. It is a sick build though relatively spendy. I am considering doing a similar conversion with my own mossin.
What he did is took this:


then he got these parts:
-ProMag Archangel stock in desert tan. MSRP $205
-Timney trigger. MSRP $104
-Brass Stacker Anchor Point scope mount. MSRP $98
-See All Open Sight (separate review on this to come in the next couple weeks). MSRP $99
-Precision Armament M11 muzzle brake. MSRP $110

then he brought it to his gun smith and made it turn from this:

We used to have an old Mossin Nagant made way back sometime in the 1940's. I originally thought it must have been worth something but apparently, these rifles were the spam of the rifle world and were worth like... $100 in good condition I think? Can't remember now. But yeah, just heard everywhere that the rifle was garbage.

That is a very well done mosin conversion although I feel like the muzzle brake and duracoat job might be a little over kill. 7.62x54r is a pretty impressive round for the price and availability of it and if people are willing to put the money into something like this they'll end up with a very accurate and inexpensive to shoot rifle. My only 2 questions about  the whole thing would have to be why did he not replace the bolt with a bent one so he mount a regular scope on it and why not use a 91/30 for some extra barrel length to work with if he's just gonna cut some off in the first place? Just seems silly to put that much money into it and not put on a bent bolt which IMO would be one of the best things you could do with this rifle.


As far as what you said Arnox pretty much every Mosin rifle was made in the 40's with the exception of the rare ones from the 30's and even the 1890's  They are in no way bad rifles just heavily mass produced by the Russians during ww2 so they could continue throwing them into the hands of everyone capable of holding one. The PU versions are especially neat little rifles and very accurate.

I had the same thought wondering why he didn't use a 91/30 as well. Though he does state that even with a 16in barrel its muzzle velocity is still rather impressive. Though if I did this it would be with a 91/30 not the carbine.

Also the Mossin Nagant is definitely not garbage if you can find one where all serials match and without a bored barrel. They may be a dime a dozen but they are worth it simply for how simple, easy to care for and durable they are.

I always take the stance of if you're going to sporterize a mosin use a 91/30 as the m44's are just harder to come by in general and neat in their own right

I got a pre-war Mosin, 38' when my buddies want to shoot it I invested 4.99 on a slip on limbsaver buttpad that gives it another inch on the stock and that sucker helps with the recoil.

I never really like Mosin conversions much but the one is the OP isn't bad at all. I have a 1944 Finnish Sako M39 Mosin myself but, would never dare to fuck with it's originality.

But thanks man! She's NRA VG rated. The receiver has an original manufacture date of 1918 before it was captured and rebuilt by the Finns in 1944. So shes got some history.
