Depends. If you want illegal shit then no. If you want to find some rare stuff you can't find else where then yes.

Its not too bad. I would say this is my list of where to get guns

Gunshows: This is where you can get guns for cheap and make the best deals or get totally screwed buying an overpriced piece of shit. If you know what you want and know at least something about guns these are a good place to go. And remember a seller isnt strictly required to keep track of who he sold it to or even keep a record of the sale if you know how to go about it.

Auction sites: Some great deals, some not so great but your not going to get totally screwed as long as the seller is reputable. If you want a specific model this is probably one of the better ways to go about finding it. But if its a rarity it may be expensive.

Gunstores: Depends. Gunstores are good if they have staff who are very knowledgeable about guns and do trades. The problem is they may not necessarily have what you want in stock. You are going to be paying a pretty fair price for the guns but way more than you would at a gunshow if you know your shit.
tl;dr: idealism will not un-rape you.

I believe the site he's talking about needs a atf type/gun broker license number code etc..to sell guns on there, I could be way off, but I think that it goes something like that.

Gun shows here you don't even need to show Id, cash and it's yours. God bless Ohio.

To sell a gun on somewhere like gunbroker you do need an FFL (Federal firearms licence). A lot of people have them and anyone can get one. If you really dont want to get one you can find someone who does have one and they will do sell it for you. I know a couple of guys in my area do that it just might take some looking. I know some gunstores also act as a FFL holder for selling on these sites and sell them for customers. The gunstore would probably take more of a cut off the sale than someone who just happens to have an FFL as the store needs to make money.

If you want illegal shit

Nope. Fully legal. Thanks everyone for the input. I'm sure gunbrokers was pretty good if you know what to look for but I wanted to make sure.

I've done dozens of deals through Gunbroker, both buying and selling. Most vendors there are solid.
If you're buying, you'll have to pay shipping (usually about $30 for a long gun) and the local FFL transfer fee (most FFL holders will charge 25 to 35 dollars, most gun dealers and pawn shops do FFL transfers). On the plus side, if you're buying from someone out of state , you won't have to pay sales tax - so it can balance out. Due to the amount of government oversight on firearm transfers, there is very little chance that you'll get scammed.
You can't beat their selection, anything you want, you can usually find there. Quality is usually better on auction sites than at gun shows, and unlike gun show dealers, most auction dealers give you a three day inspection period, so you have time to make sure the gun will run.

For firearms keep an open mind and shop around, Also don't be afraid to haggle if you go to a gun show. I've gotten everything from gun cases to a few hundred dollars off of whatever else they have on the table.

As most people have said look around online, Go to gun shows, and some gun shops or even pawn shops in some very rare cases. make sure you check everything you by carefully though.

Personally I got caught into buying a shotgun with a glued stock (already cracked). Kinda sucked but I sanded it down re-glued and C clamped it so it was a proper job and then finished it. It's lighter than the pump on it but it's great for the nick name I gave it (two tone).

On the plus side I got the guy to knock off $125 off a bolt action shotgun my friend wanted.

So buyer beware and good luck on your purchases.

Can you purchase firearms like this even if you're not allowed to purchase them where you live?  Or is that a thing of the past...

not at all,  I bought my .32's at a gun show with cash (also no ID).   .32 and .25 are both illegal in Canada and I bought them by using a loophole in the system.

http://www.armslist.com/

This is a website I use regularly. Regular privates sellers (non-FFL) or registered dealers (FFL) can buy, sell, trade what ever.
