I saw a squirrel die a horrible death yesterday. It ran across the road right into the path of an incoming car. Just as it passed the first front wheel, it suddenly encountered the second wheel and jumped up inside the wheel well and was smashed down by the tire. Then the tire ran over its head, but only halfway, so that just half its head was squashed. It tried to get up and its head was kind of stuck to the road, so it couldn't. But it twitched and twisted and turned around there for at least 3 or 4 minutes until it finally stopped moving. It was kind of like a horror movie that's so fascinating yet totally grueish you just can't turn away.
