Is NOT against the rules UNLESS it's blatant derailing such as the following.

"Have you guys ever gone snowboarding before?"

"I like whipped cream LOL."

This however is normal conversation flow.

"I really like pizza."

"Especially ones with pepperoni toppings."

"I think pepperoni's pretty gross..."

And etc. Now some mods have been deleting replies from Obbe's topic on his claim that they're derailing the thread constantly. I don't have the time right now to sort through every single response that was deleted so his claim may be legit. It may not be. Either way, all this tomfoolery ends now.

Staff, do not delete posts even if they're blatant derailings. Just infract the persons if they are doing so and move on.

Oh, and BTW, it wasn't equanimity that deleted all those posts, guys, believe it or not.

EDIT: This is NOT a staff reprimand at all. Actually, this is merely me telling you guys now that deleting posts is no longer how we do things now. I'll have to rewrite that infraction thread TBH... It's all my fault. I'm sorry for the confusion. And I posted this publicly because people need to know that we will not delete posts now (as obbe and others were requesting all the time) merely because they're derailing. This is two birds with one stone.

if a post is about a specific information type/discussion and someone drives the conversation to about how guns are banned that is off topic posting Arnox it's how threads get shitted up and don't have an easily follow-able subject

Let it be known that I didn't complain to any staff about this, in spite of how arnox makes me look by making a whole big thread about this small matter best handled between two users.

Or is this more an effort to shut obbe up because he is crying to staff about me being 'abusive' or whatever tattletale bullshit he can come up with?

Don't you think there are other subjects you can devote whole threads to, like our discontent with the complaint process, spotty moderation 'enforcement', staff acting against each other and the administration (if you guys can't even agree on a policy for off topic posts, thats fucked), and other 'complaints' more worthy of your time and energy?

It was me who did the unjust moderating.  They violated Rule #1, specifically this part:

"This means posts that are not relevant or do not add anything at all to the thread or the discussion in it."

The posts in question were not relevant, and did not add to the discussion.  If anything, they detracted from the discussion and caused back-and-forth bickering.

Arnox, I am disappointed by this thread.  Though I appreciate you trying to clear things up for the userbase, it is not a good leadership quality to publicly reprimand someone or discuss staff affairs.  That's why you have your hidden forums for staff only.  Or you could PM me about it.  Instead, you decide make a thread in the official News of the Sanctuary forum, highlighting the poor choices of just one moderator.  Don't waste everyone else's time with this.

Since staff affairs and disputes are now publicly discussed, let's review your Official Moderating Policies.  This is how you would like us to handle violations of Rule #1:

"Rule 1: Flooding the site is an automatic permaban. Ban and hard delete all spammed posts. Anything else though, give 'em a warning."

I didn't think it warranted an infraction, but it looks like we are handing those out like candy now.  Since it wasn't true spam (it was just not relevant), I didn't hard delete the posts.  Feel free to restore them from the Recycle Bin.

You should know better seeing how he acted with both you and Edify in the past and it's one of my biggest gripes about his admining

Anyone can bring the topic back to what the OP was talking about by giving their own views/contribution to it. To start monitoring conversations to make sure they stay perfectly on-topic would only hamper and restrict normal conversation flow. However, the trolling can get pretty annoying...

There's actually confusion apparently as to what is blatant derailing and what is natural topic flow. Oh, and this "small matter" has led to a WHOLE lot of posts getting deleted by staff. Not good.
