Do not salute or wave to anyone riding real motorcycles. Just because you're on something with two wheels and a motor does not endow you with the privilege to extend salutations to others riding on real bikes. Mopeds are far down the ladder of the cool factor...many rungs below a bicycle or even walking. Youd get less ridicule if you were wearing a pink tutu with a rhinestone tiara riding on the back of a trained emu. You chintzy bastards make me feel dirty every time one of you waves to me and I return it if only out of pity.

Theres a reason the saying goes 'mopeds are like fat chicks...theyre fun to ride until your friends catch you doing it'

TLDR: friends dont let friends ride mopeds

I lol'd

I had a moped before I could get my regular license...it was some cheap chinese piece of shit...it would go about 55, and got maybe 70mpg...everyone riding the bus laughed at me, but hey, I was the first one in school legal on the roads.

picked up TONS of bitches on that thing.

but as soon as I was legal on a real machine, I upgraded...never looked back.

Oh, IDK, in an alternate reality I'd like to pull up alongside TDR's Harley one day whilst on a moped, slowly look his bike up and down, and give then pull a 'meh' face at him.

I imagine his expression would be glorius.

Scooters and mopeds can be fun to ride around on, especially if you don't give a shit what some vain douchebag thinks. That said I would also enjoy an actual motorbike. Just not Harleys. Harleys are for posers, old folks, and biker gangs. Just about anything else is fine with me.

I've been given the wave a couple times by some people on scooters while I'm on my bike (read motorcycle).  I live in a college town, so they're everywhere at times.  My real disgust is how they have no regard for the actual rules of the road, and they wreck all the time because they don't know what they're doing.  My friend and I were rear-ended once by a scooter while stopped at a red light because the kid didn't know how to use the brakes properly.

Full disclosure I do own a GY6'd Ruckus & A 1978 CB400. When I take the ruck out on VFW rides they joke but are impressed I can keep up on rides.

Frankly I don't give a shit who sees me.

Yeah that's my problem too. None of them have taken MSF courses. I saw a dude on a scooter in shorts and flip flops, no helmet, dragging his feet and driving down a 4 lane street while looking down and texting. People think that since they're "cuter" than motorcycles they're somehow less dangerous.

I've been thinking about getting one for the gas mileage. I don't care if people sneer at me, they do that anyway when I ride a bicycle.
I'll try anything once, and twice to be sure.

Started out on a Yamaha Zuma 49cc. It was great on gas mileage, which is the reason I started. That, and reducing wear on the car. Moved up to a 2001 Honda Shadow ACE after about 6 months. Ended up having to sell it due to mechanical issues. Hoping to get a Shadow Phantom in the somewhat near future.

people only sneer when the rider does stupid shit

example:

- waving at real bikes
- going below the speed limit by 20mph or more while blocking traffic
- doing dangerous or stupid shit (running into something qualifies)
- parking next to a car in the same parking space or parking between cars already occupying the full spaces (attn faggot that did that next to my camaro with less than 100mi on the odometer:  yes, im the one that dragged that piece of shit fag-cycle halfway across the parking lot and tossed it into the ditch)

who you remind me of

I'm in college and found one for dirt cheap I might buy. its a moped, but its a 2 stroke...if that counts for anything.

there is also a Yamaha Maxim for $400 I might buy, but then I need insurance, a real parking sticker, registration...

I made a moped from scratch as a fuck around project,   it can do 50 miles an hour at 5000 rpm (2 stroke rpms).  I use it to go grab smokes and sometimes alcohol.

am I faggy for doing so?.
