Yet another duck and dive. This about the kidiots, not about the better posters. The way we "handle" things now, the kidiots are basically free to post people's PI again and again with slaps on the wrist, make sock puppets at will to continue doing that, ruin good threads with mindless drivel, flood threads.. the list goes on and on. Do the better posters do that? No, they don't. And that's why we're talking about the kidiots, not the better posters. You got all that, kid?
you may be right about alot of this stuff but the reality is that you can either have a thriving, active forum full of 'kidiots', or you can have a near-empty place where a few 'quality posters' talk to each other across an empty void, waiting sometimes a day or more for a thread reply. Like it or not, these 'kidiots' attract traffic, and tons of people come here just to read the antics. You just can't police post quality without damn near emptying the place.
Momentary satisfaction. That's all it ends up as being. Sure, you get some immediate benefit, and then people start catching on that it's just a boring, uninteresting shit dump. At the end of Zoklet's life. many users where complaining about the kidiots. And I don't mean just one or two. I mean the majority of the regulars were honestly upset by the kidiot takeover. Many left in droves because of it. So it was all fun and games for awhile, but it got old fast. And that's exactly what will happen here. It'll still get emptied out, only it will take awhile before it happens. And it will happen. At least with just a handful of honest contributors you'll always have the BBS and there will always be a chance of bringing in more honest posters. Not so in taking the alternate approach of handholding and coddling the kidiots. Two TTFNs later and you people are still scratching your heads trying to "figure this out"? Enough talk and debate and discussion. Now it's time for action. If you want to keep the webspace alive, you better fight for it now, because there
will come a day when the place will be forced to close if you let the kidiots overrun the place. I guaranteed that way back in 2009 on Zoklet, and that's exactly what happened. I said the exact same thing then as I'm saying now, but few would listen. All they could think about was the immediate, momentary flux of traffic. They didn't really care about the community. And look where that mentality got them? Some people just never learn.
