I had meant to post about this earlier but I never seem to be able to focus for long enough to write what I actually want to about it. now is no exception.
in short, though, I understand what they're saying - happiness, fulfillment and all those other positive feelings are just that - feelings... emotions, instincts, unconscious things that you can't truly control.
to revert back to a state where that most base happiness is available to you, you have to give in to those instincts. if you strip away morality, be it religious, social or whatever else and consider only yourself, there isn't right or wrong - only what makes you feel better or worse. what are considered crimes or evils may bring you closer to happiness, even in spite of yourself.
I don't necessarily condone the lifestyle, but there's truth to the writing. all people bend their own rules and morals and find themselves doing things they never thought they would - the writer of the article was just more honest than most.
