in 2006 before the admins closed new memberships off we where attacked by a group of people who knew the forum software back to front.    they filled up HB, SG, BI with threads whose titles where blank so they could have private conversations on a public forum while we couldn't even make a post.   the mods and admins couldn't delete the threads because you had to open the thread to even start the moderation process,   this took some time to figure out and a clever user found a way to gain entry into the threads using the hyperlink of a known (And enterable thread) and simple math.

say this is the thread you used to start the break in process (intosanctuary.com/index.php?topic=2672.0)

you see the numbers at the end of the link?,   by modifying the numbers you could gain entry to the un enterable threads.

here we changed the numbers at the end and a new thread is opened (intosanctuary.com/index.php?topic=2673.0) and in this way we could enter the threads and spam them or delete them.

Then we had to find out how they could create a thread with no title because the forum software didn't permit threads to be made without a title,  after trying a few things and no results we found out about an exploit in the software that allowed ALT-NUM PAD codes to be used in thread titles.   one of the codes is a blank space that is visible as a normal letter to the forum software but invisible to your eyes and mouse pointer.

good times.

Can get the same blank character from the Character Map program in Windows. There's more than one, too. Still works, actually.

I tried it here,  I know this forum is running something different from UBB (Totse Pre 2007).   maybe they patched it.

I remember when Jeff stopped showing up on the forum and everyone assumed he was dead. Someone made a Jeff Hunter is Dead thread and people filled it will bull shit speculation about his absence.

The moderation team rotation and Meta got put in into SG was pretty funny. I think just about every post he made in there was "Add more content to the OP", "Not enough content in the OP, locked", etc etc then he'd use his special brown banning finger to click the ban button.

Or that time the global moderator Momentary Lapse of Reason drunkenly admitted one night to letting a dog lick his asshole after spreading peanut butter on it, and someone screenshotted the admission and posted it on the board for everyone to read. Then MLoR went on a rampage threatening everyone that he'd ban them if they even mentioned it, and he soft deleted whole forums and posts and banned a bunch of people. After that, he threatened to call in the fed cybercrime unit and get people busted for trying to ruin his life (said he worked for the fed and had friends there) , but he got booted by Jeff himself before he could come through on his promise. Classic shit right there, folks!

I wonder if the whole Bill Keller thing kicked off Warweed's downward spiral... is he still in jail?
