Uh... I was military and we used the therm bromance all the time so.... Yeah. Let's not argue terms here, you understand what relationship I'm trying to convey via the term so answer my question - Can gay men hold this type of relationship?
Oh, the breathless faux outrage of it all!
The OP is talking about a deep fraternal bond as theoretically shared by some heterosexual men, in potentially life-or-death occupations or roles. The gay people I know wouldn't be too fucking impressed that your counter-example of gays having a 'deep' bond that just involves doing some cardio' at the gym then going for cocktails afterwards.
It's one of the most insulting comments in this thread.
You consider relating a deep fraternal bond to the term "Bromance" and criticize me? Really now? I don't think those two are one and the same..
Loyalty to your fellow man in the sense that you describe reminds me of what brothers in arms and war buddies might have had. I would hardly call that a Bromance.
What you call it is irrelevant. The OP has already been quite clear if defining the term within the context of this thread.
Ah, you got me there.. Suppose it's a matter of opinion really. Nonetheless, I still can't forsee any real possibility that homosexuals couldnt share the same qualities to meet the requirements of the definition. I mean sure, if you want to assume the basis of the male homosexual community on it's stereotype (often portrayed as men who exhibit stereotype femenistic qualities).. Then I would have difficulty seeing them exhibit what has been definied as a "Bromance". However, some gay dudes appear and partake in all similar stereotypical activities of straight men, besides the fact they either give or take a dude in the ass. Just want to point out, that I'm not assuming you are basing your opinion on what I just said.. It's just the only way I can try and wrap my head around the conversation and try to make sense..
Perhaps, the better question would be why couldnt homosexuals exhibits the qualities of a Bromance?
Edit : And honestly, I'm a little uncomfortable with how many times I've had to type...... Bromance, today. I feel about as dirty as would telling someone YOLO.... gah, I think a part of me just died.
