I was a teen when MJ died. I remember how as a kid everyone would make rapist jokes that had to do with him. I remember watching the news when they announced he died all of a sudden everyone in the world, including the those on the news became big fans of him and were suddenly close friends of him. Fucking fake ass people.

When I was 8 we, as a class, were asked to write down on a pieve of paper 'someone we saw as a role model'. My mind went blank as I was born cynical and already thought most people were full of shit, including the teacher and her 'role model' bollocks. So anyway I knew this fucking thing was going to turn into a 'and so-and-so picked x, what do we think of that class...' situation so I said MJ, knowing that I'd get the approval of the niglets (who indeed all nodded in approval) and the rest of the class would be plain sailing.

If the 'Way to know' list was about 80/90's kids one question could be 'most of the people you grew up admiring were arrested 20 years later for being child molesters'.

I always thought I was odd that as a kid and even now I never had a role model. I would always say some bs like Abraham Lincoln or George Washington. Not only end up being child molesters but offing themselves or ODing lol.
