sounds like your local PD is just stuck with really old equipment then; a lot of them are apparently using those stinger GSM tower spoofers nowadays, and others are just subpoena'ing telco carriers - in most cases, you won't know. in any case, why the fuck wouldn't they just disconnect the microphone from the device they're listening with?
Even if the mic is disabled, you still hear a *click* when you connect to the conversation, and yeah they probably are archaic I've been stuck in bumblefuck, WV since I got out of jail.
@Zok jr, I have a lot of shit on my III, most of it you don't know about. In my younger days I might have indulged you, but I honestly can't be bothered and I'm trying to keep a low-profile here.
