Birds chirping at 2am?
« on: September 11, 2014, 06:16:55 am »
Went to throw out the garbage and had a smoke. I heard birds chirping this late at night, are they usually out at this time or am I just barely noticing this?

It's normal for some species, like mockingbirds.

You know what's also weird? Bats flying around streetlights at night. I'm sure they are bats because I've spent a while exploring their art of flight and yea, bats. Why do they fly around lights? I thought they were mostly blind.

What hangs out around lights...  Bugs.  It's like a buffet for bats.

This shit pisses me off. I'm an insomniac, and the last thing I want is birds chirping at 3am to remind me that I'm an unproductive member of society

They are a nocturnal species in the sense that they are most active at night, but don't necessarily have an aversion to light. From what I understand, echolocation works regardless.

Sounds unusual. Could be someone's pet bird sitting next to an open window. It would be dead silent in my neighborhood at 2am if not for the frogs ribbiting in the two lakes that surround me.
