From your description Slave it sounds like a hernia may also be a solid possibility. They can become just as serious as appendicitis. Endoscopy time.

Thanks for asking. I'm now fine, or rather the pain has completely gone.

One of the medical team did say she suspected a very small hernia that may not cause me trouble again. If I experience similiar symptoms then I'll consider an endoscopy, but in the meantime the TV crew will not be going potholing for the sake of it.
