Exploiting a DMCA request
« on: November 14, 2014, 10:04:11 am »
I was just googleing a manga I wanted to read, and saw a link to a DMCA request to block certain results. So I read the complaint. Thanks for a nice indexed list of resources that have what I want in multiple formats, dumbasses.
I'll try anything once, and twice to be sure.

The irony is palpable.  I've done the same on multiple occasions.

Sure. If you have cash to burn and a leg to stand on, you could call their bluff and file a civil suit for US$100,000+ and most likely win if they've filed a false DMCA. Many, many of these crackers DO file false DMCA claims, which is liable, and they can be forced to agree to a number of conditions in addition to the monetary settlement, such as a public apology, banning of the filing any future DMCA takedown requests, enrollment in a compulsory course on copyright law, and an entire host of other embarrassing penalties.

OP is talking about legit copywrite infringement.  Google filters out links that have DMCA complaint against them, but you can click the complaint and get the link anyway.

Usually it's the best sites that have complaints against them so it's basically the government highlighting good sites.

It's the copyright holders, or alleged holders anyway, that are highlighting it. That is why it's so delicious.

The government has no part in it, other than refusing to pass sane copyright laws.
