No, simply because I wasn't there for a full year. I only went to Totse for a certain few boards and only partook in conversation. If anything, I'm almost tired of hearing about Totse.. even though I have even helped purport it recently. Totse is dead.. died.. failed. It was a cool niche community that had its limelight, and we've all lived in its shadow since its demise. All things considered, fuck Totse. I'm tired of people still suckling on the ghost tit.. No site will ever be Totse, nor should any incarnation try to be a replica.. obviously, it failed in certain aspects.
Did you ever read the story about the fox who couldn't get at the apple no matter how hard he tried, so in the end he simply declared it sour and walked away? Well, yeah...
Your... point? I'm being pissy because I never fully grasped the totse ideology? I dont think that's it because I've interacted with countless former totseans over the years, and.. while some were cool and interesting, otherwise.. nothing special. Just people on a chat board, some more enthused and passionate than others.. Everyone always talks about Totse and how great it was and what it stood for... without ever getting really specific on what it really stood for. Sure, freedom of speech and information of any and all kinds.. I get that... possibly a side note of anarchy and everything anti-authoritarian. Makes sense. But those ideas alone are far from special or unique.. I recognize the collective community that manage to conspire to make Totse successful was in an early internet area was.. groundbreaking.. but that ship has sailed. I guess the constant shadow/reminder of Totse is it's own way of perpetually preserving its history. And while the archives were a brilliant and uncontested staple of it's time.. well.. Light Bulbs were a pretty big thing when they first came around, but the hype has blown over.. I'm know I'm just being hateful, and it probably has to do with my lack of emotional investment for most online communities.. I have no interest in knowing anyone real name, location, seeing their balls, or tits, or reading gibberish to pass my time. I "use" a forum to serve my intellectual purposes, to vent, and general aide in giving advice as well as receiving some when I see fit. This place is a "Tool".. no more, no less.. and like all other forums, it will eventually bite he dust. Hopefully later rather than sooner, but when it does.. my life will go on, without yearning for yester-year..
