right now I'm rolling around in a 2000 VW passat, 1.8t failwheeldrive 5 speed.

I needed something boring and economical for college, and something that would do well in the snow...and my '68 Delta 88 was  none of the above. so I traded it off for this.

I loved american build quality and driving feel, but I couldn't find a newer american car that wasn't a truck, and lived up to my standards...but German cars did. I was originally looking for a standard quattro A4 or a TDI golf, but the dude who was selling this car contacted me and offered a trade.

I've been extremely happy with it.

only external mod I've done to it since I bought it was returning it to factory ride height.

I bought junkyard seats out of an audi A6 to replace the cloth factory ones. I am in the process of putting a system in it

How reliable has it been?

not great compared to the Slutless Supreme, but nothing I can't handle. it had 170k on it, so the clutch was getting high. I replaced that yesterday, and found that it was the throwout bearing that failed...in the 5k that I've had it, its never left me stranded, and I'm confident in driving it until 220k.

im looking at a new vehicle as well since my 9mpg truck isnt quite cutting it as a commuter.  oddly enough...im looking at either VW or honda.  slight chance of a toyota but none of the three have anything that ive seen that quite fits my preference and style.  ive been leaning towards vw because of their quality.  my father had one (diesel) that was only a few years younger than i was and it met its demise when the entire bottom end of the engine was ripped out in a collision.

Right now my daily is an old Toyota Previa, 4WD with the 4-speed slusher. It's kinda gay, but I paid a grand for it, it's got 290,000KM on it, and it's pretty damn reliable. It's also mid-engined, so it sorta-kinda handles. Gutless and otherwise not interesting to talk about. I need it for work because..

my other car is a 1973 BMW 2002. 2.0L M10 with a 32/36 Weber DGAV, 4 speed manual. Love this car. Here in Vancouver, we have something called Aircare. It goes away for good in January, but because I moved here last year and needed to aircare the car to keep it insured, it has subsequently failed since it's an island car and thus has no emissions controls on it whatsoever. So it's off the road for a few months until I can drive it again. Plans are up in the air, I'm considering fixing it up and selling it for something I can throw a roll cage into and take to the track/hillclimb. I could do that to the 02 but... it's an antique, and a lovely road car. I think an E30 would be a more appropriate car for my purposes ultimately.

The Aussie Fords are pretty sweet, I wish we got the Falcon here too. I don't know if they stopped making it, but they use either a straight 6 or V8. The XR6 T came from the factory with either a manual or automatic 6 speed and the 4L DOHC I6 with a turbo, RWD, and fairly acceptable handling. It's a big car and is better for long distance touring or cruising around, but they're also fun to hustle, even the stock Falcons. They're like really good American cars. Same as for Holdens too, but I had a base 4L Falcon while I was there so that's all I know. It was pretty durable tho.

Yes t's a genuine '07 BF Mk II XR6 turbo. lol. Honestly I have no idea how you figured that out, care to explain?

To most people it appears as a genuine '07 BF Mk II F6. The only way you can really tell visually or performance wise at this point though is the VIN. Everything is F6 spec, with genuine Ford and Garret gear and it still came to be well less than half the price of a $60,000 car in this condition. It also runs a little more boost (13psi vs 9) and larger injectors (80lb) as well as a flashed CPU. The conversion was superficially completed by an acquaintance who owned it prior to us, and we put all the little interior touches gauge clusters like genuine ford over aftermarket and did the boost injectors. He had done a very good job of attaching the bumpers and paint matching, which was a good sign. It still only has the factory exhaust system, and the wheels are about the only non genuine part on it now because they're as good as identical yet cost under $1,500 vs. $5,000 for the real deal.
Yes it has an excellent service history with our local speed shop, and just under 70k when purchased.

lol. I saw the badge but I didn't blow it up enough to see it said F6. I just assumed it was an XR6T. That's sweet either way, I forgot about the FPV's actually.
