I'd say I started using tobacco products when I was around the age of 16.. not as young as some, but.. young enough. By products, I'll admit that I've smoked as well as using dip tobacco... I'm from a southern state, so its pretty commonplace.
The last time I quit it was cold turkey, straight up, and it lasted for a year and 3 months. I really should have never started back, but I've also always enjoyed a nice cigar or cigarillo, so on a trip out of state I picked up a pack and thus continued my way back to daily habitual use.
This past week and a few days, I've been undergoing.. quite easily one of the worst little sicknesses I've had in a while (not bad enough for a doctor visit, but still.. it about kicked my ass).. It was of the stomach pertaining variety, so naturally.. being too sick to eat or varely drink, I wasn't able to chew or smoke either.
I don't necessarily recommend quiting nicotine while one is sick, while I will boast to it's effectiveness. Perhaps, the reason why the illness was so bad in the first place was probably a culmination between the sickness itself and onset nicotine withdrawal. I was a pretty bad tobacco user.. in my own opinion.. compared to the rest of society though, it wasn't like I was smoking a pack a day (I did when I was younger, but as I said, I'd become accustomed to cigars).. So there I am.. shivering, sweating, fever, cold sweats, racing heart beat, racing thoughts, depressive thoughts... nicotine withdrawal can be pretty damn rough. But alas, I pulled through.. and now I'm 6 days without nicotine.. I'm still sweating at night, but my racing heart and thoughts have subsided.. I put a gallon of orange juice through me in no time, but I did that the last time I quit as well.
To anyone thinking about quitting, I urge you to do so.. You'll save yourself on money, save your teeth, your breath, make for better first impressions, make yourself less likely to upper respiratory infections, have more energy.. etc..
I'm not saying everyone should quit.. I completely believe in freedom of choice, and your body/your life. However, if it has crossed your mind.. even in those first few days after quitting, I feel more... well, alive in a way. That constant constriction on your blood flow being opened up... it's a hell of a rush.. and you'll come off as agitable at first. But as it recedes, idk.. I just feel pretty damn good, and im not even at 100% yet.
I'm getting ready to start back lifting using my home gym.. Just got it this past December, was pysched to get it.. Didnt even put it together till July (lol).. and now.. Well it's time to sculpt that masterpiece back into form.
No real thoughts on what kind of feedback I expect, just felt like sharing.. Anyone else wanting to quit, in the process of quitting, or have any nicotine withdrawal stories?
