Fuck trying to re engineer the virus/pathogen, fuck trying to develop medicines and treatments that kill them. Here is what you do - Find a suicide host. Any virus that is depended on fucking up your cells by highjacking could easily be eliminated this way. Picture this: Bob gets AIDS - Bob get injected with millions of CD4-like  cells - These cells allow the AIDS virus to enter and then self destruct or have no internal functions the virus can highjack to reproduce - effectively becoming a virus trap.

Should check out RNA interference. This imho will be the cure for most health complaints within the next 10-20 years.

They have a cure for aids many years ago just like cancer but why would they cure something that makes them a lot of money?

OP's idea won't work as a cure anymore than HAART does.

There will still be a population of latently HIV-1 infected cells, e.g. memory CD4+ T cells and  hematopoietic progenitor cells, as well as HIV-1 being able to infect monocyte-macrophage type cells which can cross the blood-brain barrier and reside in the immunoprivileged central nervous system. There are methods being investigated to target in vivo HIV-1 viral reservoirs but it will be many years before these treatments become viable in humans, assuming the virus can be fully eradicated.
