Any Knife Collectors among us?
« on: September 03, 2014, 03:23:08 am »
Partly due to the shitty gun laws in my country and partly due to my interest in Martial Arts I'm collecting knives for the better part of my adult life. Over the years I've amassed quite the collection and some really rare collectors pieces.
If anyone is interested I would be inclined to share pix of some of the nicer pieces...

I'm interested in knives. I purchase and use traditional slipjoints as well as modern one hand opening knives. Here are a few.

I have a 2 hand made knives that are one-off pieces, other than that I have no noteworthy knives. I quite like them though, and know a bit about them. My grandfather has a pretty nice collection of knives, though.
Not Istanbul.

Slipjoints are not my cup of tea so to speak but I see you also got a few Spyderco as well as my current every day carry knife, the Kershaw/Zero Tolerance 350. I really like this knife, you get a very sturdy knife with good steel for a really low price

This is what I picked up the last time I visited my favorite Cutlery Dealer, not the best image quality but I'll upload more later

I never use my ZT 0350 anymore. I bought it online. Had I held it in my hand I never would have purchased it. Horrible ergonomics. It is short, heavy, and uncomfortable. The heat treat is far from optimal as the blade loses its edge very quickly. Spyderco is far more reliable and offers a lot of variety. Their heat treatment is superior from my experience as well.

Wouldn't really consider it a collection but my filing cabinet upstairs has a drawer full of em.

I use what I have to the breaking point most times then I'll either toss it in my "fix it later" pile or in the scrap metal pile, Knifes are tools to me and not much else.
