Investigations: Federal Vs. Secret Service
« on: September 09, 2014, 03:21:34 am »
Is there a difference between federal investigations and secret service investigations or is it all on a federal level?

If there is a difference, then what is the difference?

Do either of these agencies investigate better than the other?

oh.  FBI.  you didnt say that the first time

yea...theyre different agencies.  just google it.  the secret service gets involved in stupid shit.  supposedly their jurisdiction involved bebesitting the president (bodyguards) as well as counterfeiting money and related crimes.  how they think theyre related is beyond anything logical i can think of.  the FBI is more like a national police agency that has jurisdiction where regular state cops dont, as in major crimes across state lines

nowadays all the major agencies work together on various crimes so they get credit and funding for 'joint' operations.  watch the news some time and youll see all the alphabet soup agencies that are purposely wandering around a crime scene, pretending to look busy for the camera.  DHS is the new one that has been sticking its nose right into the camera lenses lately.  DEA and ATF used to be the camera hogs

as far as which is better...the answer is neither.  they just do different stuff, technically.  even though the duplication of effort and jurisdiction between various federal agencies is on the point of being absurd (FBI police?  come on.) it depends on the agent/special agent/employee/wtf-ever who is doing the actual work more that which agency is involved. what youre asking is way too complicated to answer on this site.  there are pages and pages worth of info you can google

Just to be clear the FBI, Secret Service, ATF, DEA, US Marchals, ICE ect. are all federal agencies, tasked with enforcing federal law, who's jurisdiction is throughout the United States.

The guy in the below article was investigated/busted by the Secret Service.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/24-old-allegedly-used-simple-162800325.html

This page says that he was charged multiple times with "FRAUDULENT USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION".  I thought it would be Aggravated Wire Fraud or something.

What is it that made the Secret Service go after him, rather than the FBI?  I had always thought that the Secret Service is more for the president, counterfeit US currency, and fraud that involves US bonds.  Basically things that involve the US as a whole.

My brother worked at *I believe it was* Planet Fitness.  He told me about how if they would try to charge someone's card and it was denied, by policy they would do a forced charge to try to get the bank to pay the money anyway.  Honestly, I think the merchants and banks are colluding to scam the customers by using forced charges to create overdrafts.  I think the Secret Service got involved, because this is one of those instances of National Security where there is a huge flaw in the financial system that could be exploited or exposed and cause some very serious issues.

"FRAUDULENT USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION"

Is that why the Secret Service got involved?  Personal Information.
