Fake Flash Storage
« on: November 27, 2014, 07:11:55 pm »
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesale-Micro-SD-card-16GB-use-for-Mobile-phone/517318297.html

They show up as 128 GB but only hold 16 GB of data. It works out to $10.50, about 10% (http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Memory-Adapter--SDSDQUAN-128G-G4A-Version/dp/B00M562LF4/) of the retail price of a genuine card.b Someone could post ads on craigslist in a nearby town and sell a few of these before anyone caught on.

weidmännisch jagt, wie sich’s gehört,

Old news since these have been around for years and most people are aware of them.

The new hotness is to put thumb drives inside SSD casings and wire them up/flash firmware to show more capacity.
Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.
