Cannabimetic Index: Glossary of Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids I Have Known And Loved

This is being written from an iPhone, and is a work in progress. Excuse the current state of formatting, it will improve. Please feel free to ask questions and add comments.

It has come to my attention that there is a dire need for a roadmap in the wild, under-researched terrain of synthetic CB ligands. The area has, quite frankly, exploded in the last decade, with perhaps the quickest expansion in sheer variety of quality agonists occurring only in the last 6 months or so. Surely, a new researcher might be confounded by this newfound surplus, and make poor decisions which could reflect negatively on the lifespan of his lab ware. I am writing this chiefly in the interest of harm reduction. The available information on these newer compounds is so scarce, and the information that IS available is of such poor standard [partially due to necessities in the types of descriptions given] that I personally believe, in the current environment of information, it is only a matter of time before a completely preventable disaster might have occurred in a newbie's lab.

I will attempt to provide a standardized, easily-read breakdown of the current roster.

A note before I begin: There are some compounds available today which are so strong at producing reactions in labware that I do not Believe an inexperienced researcher, who had taken a holiday from research let's say, or ESPECIALLY a researcher who was new to research altogether, is capable of handling them at all in their raw form. I tell you the truth, these can be fierce and make AM-2201 look like RCS-4. The reason this is a big enough deal that I'm writing about it: The Incredibly LOW amount required. 1mg of ADBICA was a tremendous overkill, for instance. I could not believe the spectrums observed, I could have sworn my beakers were bubbling on AM-2201 for almost 2 Full hours. After that point, the experience became more bearable, and I enjoyed a full hour to come! Now, for an unfluorinated compound like ADBICA, related to the relatively weak (by weight, not quality of experience) AB-PINACA, I thought 1mg was a conservative starting point to begin testing on. Imagine if I had assumed it would be identical to AB-PINACA though, and tried closer to 3-5mg? What's worse is, we all need to be honest and talk about 'tolerance to research'. If you have been researching synthetic cannabinoids since the debut of JWH-018 and JWH-073 like I have, and you're not a total nutter yet, you know something about 'tolerance and addiction' in the research environment. You simply do not have infinite access to a legal, dirt cheap, hyper-potent FAMILY of chemicals for the better part of 5 years without overdoing it once or twice. And you simply can not over-research them forever. This is, fortunately, self-limiting. So if you've been at it long enough, you've probably learned self control, the easy way or the hard one.

I'LL TELL YOU THE TRUTH, HEAVY USE *IS* BAD FOR YOUR LAB WARE! Some get bad 'physical' side effects, irregularities of their valves and pipes, when they start to really observe these synthetics all day long[I don't get these side effects], and some chems are worse than others, but ALL of them are bad for your mental health when abused often enough. Spending that much time in the laboratory isn't healthy. You will begin to notice: HUGE 'tolerance' increases (50mg required of 5F-AKB48, anyone?) Semi-temporary cognitive decline, mood issues, and a compulsion to research more. I usually research a couple times at night. This allows me to not get any appreciable 'tolerance' in my glass ware. If I 'wake and research' [especially with 5F compounds] I will feel the need to keep experiments going all throughout the day, and by the end of a few days of that you're loading massive amounts into your machines and not even getting results.

I took about a month off cannabinoids and my lab ware's 'tolerance' has completely reset to normal. Now that I see how surprisingly strong some of these new ones are in fresh equipment, I wonder if the vendors would even dare sell them if they didn't have a 'tolerance' themselves - not realizing some of the compounds they carry, which they probably need to observe 5mg+ just to get any effects, could put a new researcher's equipment in (at best), 3 hours of intensely uncomfortable reactions, from an amount of powder (below a milligram) which is literally too small to be clearly seen by the unaided eye, let alone weighed by even the best 0.001 scales, and I guarantee no 'researchers' among us have a 0.0001g scale. My suggestion for these would be to make blends, as it is my opinion that they are too potent to accurately work with in raw form.

That is the purpose of this Index. I hope that my warnings have not fallen on deaf ears, and that their inclusion inspires readers to treat the following compounds with the respect and reverence which they will command over your gear. To disrespect them is to disrespect your own safety.

These chemicals have amazing therapeutic purposes, let's not allow disinformation and ignorance to fuck them up.

LEGEND:

# Banned
* Not suitable for beginners \ very strong, with * being just a bit too strong and ***** being forbidden to newbies.
@ LONG!
? Inactive\light activity for those with a tolerance

Also, I made up the family names, although they are based on real structural classifications. They are only for the purpose of helping categorize cannabinoids. The chemicals in the same "Family" contain the same R2 substitution, and as a result have similar "flavors" of results.

        Naphthinoids]>
The ones which really started it all. There are only a few which aren't explicitly banned, and even those are still subject to blanket bans. Almost all of these made great research compounds, but I'm including them as a reference.

{These are all very good, with a distinctive (pleasant) vanilla odor. They definitely all share a very beautiful spectrum in common. A very good class over all. They should be reserved for special occasions, and not at all if your lab has a massive tolerance. This is not one family to binge on. {Issues involving valves and pipes have been reported following continued administration of large amounts, although I have never personally experienced this} The latter three are all EXTREMELY easy to over do, and can give researchers a lot of "Fear". But when the correct amount is observed, they are lovely.
