Idea to reduce risk in carhopping
« on: October 26, 2014, 01:53:15 pm »
This idea actually came from a friend of mine, but I think it's pretty smart. So say you want to go pull some door handles in a local parking lot. That looks sketchy as shit. So...what if for every door handle you pull, you put a flyer on their window. Just some bullshit flyer for nothing, but nobody would question what you were doing, and it would show you the cars you've already tried. Discuss?

I see this as more of a 'nighttime' activity.  I have never known anyone to flyer up cars in the middle of the night.

The flyer bandit.

Seems like a great way to fuck up and leave fingerprints.
Fuck Zok and his "health problems."

I have had my entire car stolen and my parents house was burglarized and a dozen guns were stolen, and the cops didn't even check for fingerprints in either case, so why would they for someone who had their ipod stolen from the console because they left their car unlocked?

It's a good idea, and I'm sure carhopping can be done during the day in a busy parking lot at a mall or something.  No smash and grabs though, obviously.

This

The effort cops show is directly proportionate to the benefit to themselves.   Ie...their captain focusing on a particular set of crimes...the local media reporting on crimes that is now on the radar of the local politicians...the victim being a hot chick that the cop wants to impress...
