These guys have substandard equipment. They lack an air force or an air defence system. Yet they are prepared to take on Iraq, Syria, the USA and their coalition as well as Iran.
Their motives have to be looked at.
Their endeavour has found Islamic nations not only banding together, but crossing political boundaries, with enemy countries assisting each other to remove Islamic State.
The IS fighters would have foreseen this happening. They would be aware that their deeds, of beheadings, rape and murder, as well as trying to seize and control areas of countries are serving a greater good, by forcing other nations to act.
It has worked great for world peace, by showing the world that enemy nations, such as Iran and Saudi Arabia, and countries of different religious faiths, such as France and Qatar, can all work together, to show the issue is not Islamic in nature.
This is doing amazing things for the future of civilization by demonstrating that the war was never Islamic in nature.
These people are aware they are committing great evil, but perhaps their eternal souls will be saved when their motives are judged in the afterlife, that of being to bring enemy nations together, to unite them, and to show that Islam is not the enemy, but imperfect political systems are.
And their destruction of Syria and Iraq has shown that they are not neo-Nazi's hell bent on destroying Israel, such as Syrian Hezbollah and Iranian Hezbollah, as well as the al-Qud's brigades are.
ISIL fighters are the true heroes.
