Information on Lucid Dreaming
« on: September 25, 2014, 01:51:22 pm »
Everything I have heard about lucid dreaming seems like a bunch of bullshit. Anyone have any real information on it? How to do it, what's it like, etc.
I grew up a fuckin' screw-up, got introduced to the game, got a ounce and fuckin' blew up

I have experience with lucid dreaming, picked up a few tricks etc in relation to controlling dreams. It works sort of like the Matrix where you have to unlearn the rules and restrictions of the physical world "Do you think that's air you're breathing?" sort of thing.

For example, lets say you want to fly around, this is completely unnatural to us, but if you "swim" through the air, it comes a bit closer to a real world experience (swimming) and thus easier to comprehend.

I've always been a natural lucid dreamer, but its faded with age. In a dream I would suddenly realise "this is a dream! I can do whatever I want" this would give me maybe 30 seconds before the excitement would wake me up. Over time I learned to extend the lucid dream, control it better, but its a long, slow process. You know the wall doesn't exist and its just a dream, but to walk through it? not so easy.

If you've never had a lucid dream, there are ways to trigger one, but I don't know about this from personal experience as I have had lucid dreams all my life.

I've got a lot of experience with lucid dreaming, I've had hundreds over the past several years. There's a bit of misinformation that goes around about lucid dreaming, and most people ever get to the first stage at most, which is really just another level of unconsciousness.

You need a certain balance of various neurotransmitters including adrenaline, cortisol, dopamine, and the tryptamines (melatonin, serotonin, and DMT). You also need to cultivate your awareness.

I don't really feel like writing up everything I know about it, but I'm down to answer any specific questions you have. There's a lot of information online that you could start with. Check out "The Art of Dreaming" by Carlos Castaneda. Use his hand technique. Use it while awake and you'll use it automatically while dreaming.

All of this won't get you very far until you learn how to stop your inner dialogue though.

The more advanced stages of lucid dreaming does NOT involve controlling your dream in order to experience whatever bestial desires are floating in yr subconscious (lots of people think the purpose of lucid dreaming is to have realistic sex - it's not), some of the most amazing lucid dreams I've had have been purely exploratory. It's all about creating a frame of reference and working on your dream memory.

So far my most amazing lucid dreaming experience was at the Lucidity festival in april of this year, 40 other random strangers and I went into a WILD together and...magic happened that cannot properly be explained in the lexicon of normal language.

Personally I believe lucid dreaming holds the key to the evolution and survival of mankind in the face of the adversities that we have.

First of all, stop referring to it as Lucid Dreaming...  As, if it is somehow different from regular dreaming. What you have to understand is that when you dream, you enter the spirit world.  You're tripping balls.  DMT to the brain. Shaman shit.  Most people can't accept it. Sometimes I sleep a little.  Sometimes I sleep a lot. It depends.  If I feel sick, I delve into the spirit world to cure myself.  There is the physical world and the spirit world. That's the first point to realize.  Bridging the two can be complicated.  But, it's mostly due to the brainwashing that's been done to us.

Uh, it is very different from normal dreaming and even normal awareness. The lucidity you experience in a lucid dream rivals the lucidity you experience in normal waking life. Indeed, one can use the awareness that you cultivate in a lucid dream to solve some of your real life problems. For instance, if you find yourself in a nightmare and manage to become lucid and realize that your fears are illusions, you may wake and find yourself able to tackle your fears in the physical world.

I'm also a big fan of the story of Nikola Tesla using lucid dreaming in order to construct & test out his inventions for flaws.

Not that I'm saying what you said about the spirit world is false.

I hear you.  I just don't think there is any difference.  I just think it is more a matter of awareness.
