You ever wish you could just

Day after day after day of going through the motions in this big ol machine that human race has created and made more corrupt and miserable every second, year, fortnight, you ever just sit down, drink a few shots, take a few DXM gelcaps, some MDMA or smoke a spliff, and just fantasize about maybe taking a couple hundred mg of a benzo with your alcohol, some MAOIs with your DXM and MDMA, or just take a revolver upside your head and pull the trigger, but snap back into the eternal pergatory that is the empty, cold, resonating with the fact that nothing matters and make another post in the sanctuary.
This is Max Headroom. I'M SPECIAL. I'M UNIQUE. I'M DIFFERENTIAL.
THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE AIR CONDITIONED TO THE USUAL.
THIS IS ME, MAX HEADLAMP. AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, YOU CAN STICKSHIFT IT IN YOUR EXHAUST PIPE AND CHOKE IT.
ASS SMOKE IT.

The idea of suicide puzzles me within the context of human evolution and self-awareness.

If increasing intelligence is one of the major outcomes of the evolutionary process, as it is in Homo sapiens, what happens when that intelligence ultimately allows for the realization that life has no inherent purpose, other than to exist just because it can? Is this psychological burden simply to be carried or accomodated for many generations until such point that the emotional desire for 'higher purpose' evolves out of the species and we can all post on the internet without existential angst, because none of it matters anyway?

It just seems odd that there should be what appears to be a distinct barrier to the development of 'unburdened' higher intelligence; a guarantee that there will be a very dangerous cross-over point between low-tech and high-tech civilisations with aspects of the former (religion, rigid social constructs, etc) lingering on well into the development of the latter (internet, Sanctuary... daytime TV). Perhaps this should be the anticipated result of humans being intelligent enough to grossly manipulate the environment, but not intelligent enough to manipulate ourselves to adapt to the high-tech environment we create and exist in. We create shitty forum websites with the delightful anticipation of the community we will belong to, then suffer miserably by torturing ourselves for spending so much time on them. This is ridiculous. In the great scheme of things nothing you do has any inherent meaning. Many are still not evolved enough to realize this.

So in the meantime, as the OP suggests, I think we should all contemplate killing ourselves during this period of evolutionary transition. Take your time. It should take about 237 generations by my calculations. Oh don't worry, I'm sure that archaic mechanism called the survival instinct will kick in before you're tempted to do yourself a serious mischief.

Vid's are mandatory if it doesn't.
