What Pets/Animals Do you Own?
« on: October 16, 2014, 09:26:58 am »
You can feel free to post pics if you want to, but your not obligated to do so..

Currently, I have 3 dogs, all female.. 2 cats.. both indoor.. a fixed and de-clawed male (He was a petshop refugee).. and a female with claws and parts intact.. found in a dumpster one night when me and my fiance were taking a walk.. it was trash night, so she got lucky.

Had 2 bantam chickens but as of last week, the dogs had themselves a nice dinner. I was pissed and disappointed but, these sort of things happen and you move on.

Looking to get a horse in the next little bit, and I would like to start a small Alpaca herd for profit by early next year.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.

Currently just the 3 cats, all of them rescues, one was thrown out of his house, the other two were feral kittens. In the past I've had dogs, a cocatiel, two rabbits, and I had a frog that just died last year after 20 years. Several other cats as well. One would think having rabbits and a dog at the same time would be a recipe for disaster, and you would be right. The dog (black lab) was raised with those rabbits from a puppy, and he was terrified of them. Even when he was full grown, one of the bunnies liked to beat him up.
I'll try anything once, and twice to be sure.

It's funny how animals can have relative unreasonable psychological phobias, not unlike humans. As terrible as that may be, it probably worked to your favor or else you may not have had your rabbits for very long.

I personally never saw the appeal to having a pet rabbit. Before we came to acquire our cats, my fiance was pretty adamant about getting a rabbit for a house pet. Her sister at one time roomed with someone who had one, and it was actually house trained to a little box. Idk, perhaps it's just where I've never had much interaction with rabbits other than petting a handful of them through childhood.. Cats loves to play with lasers and string, dogs are great for fetch and teaching intelligent commands.. I just don't know what I would do with a rabbit. I do want to own them someday, for breeding purposes and repopulating them around my farm. Maybe with a little more experience I'll come around.

Oh, and I forgot, I had a rat a few years back too. His previous owner freaked out because giant rat testicles, and gave him to me. I'd go all over town with him riding my shoulder. Little dude would take any opportunity at all to dive down a woman's cleavage.
