Mirai Nikki
« on: October 28, 2014, 05:48:32 am »
Started watching this shit today and it is indeed shit. The only rason I'm continuing to watch it is because I've already invested too much time on it. Whoever recommended this in a previous thread, I shit on you. The animation is HORRIBLE at time, I thought it was youtube but no, the show is REALLY  animated that badly. Not only that but the awful amount of fan service and plotholes are almost unbearable. What the fuck is with Japan and it's obsession with a) rape, b) whimpy whiney protagonists, c) harems d) 'zomg everything is about friendship and being accepted by everyone blah blah' syndrome? Just finished an episode where bitches were about to get EATEN BY M OTHER FUCKING DOGS and the protag instead of you know, fearing for his life, dude is stuck on making friends with fuckers who 20 seconds ago tried to KILL him. What. The. Fuck? The whole premise doesn't even amke sense, why would you ally with ANY of the motherfuckers if you're COMPETING to become a GOD. Who wants to make friends with someone when YOUR life is standing between them and immortality?

If you haven't already, you really should watch Cowboy Bebop. It blows pretty all of those stupid anime stereotypes you've talked about right out of the water. One of the reasons why I like it so much over a lot of other anime.

Time is always against you in some way or another.

Lol, what's your source? The animation didn't blow me away but it never stuck out as bad.

I'll give you fanservice, Yuno is played for the surprise girlfriend angle a lot but what do you think is a plot hole? There are a couple of things that got lost between the manga and the anime but I don't want to give out spoilers if you haven't finished it.

a. rape makes for good drama, it's not like it isn't a thing in western media
b. demographics I guess. It actually worked pretty well here I think because it's played straight such that the MC doesn't ever actually get over being insecure and eventually becomes a villain for that reason. It's a common trope in anime but I thought it was played with interestingly in MN.
c. wut? Mirai Nikki is an anime that doesn't ever have a serious harem
d. It's explained by yuki's backstory, he's neurotic and socially isolated. The entirety of his character development is resolving selfish desires with an urge to have a social self

Why would anyone ally with a potential competitor. Some of characters didn't want to become god for various reasons and those were the ones who typically formed alliances. Also with resurrection on the table it's in each player's interest to hop on the most powerful alliance that promises to bring them back to life and just committing suicide once that team had won (which actually happens at one point).
