I never looked into the written laws on it, but just assumed that's how they did things in my area.  I'm sure if someone overdoses and EMT and the cops show up and find like 10 kilos of heroin then someones gonna get in trouble, but for personal shit, I wouldn't expect much trouble.   

Yeah I've had police friends and this is basically how it goes, at least in my state.  Cops generally won't do anything if you're white and there's no evidence out in the open suggesting you sold your friend the drugs.

Joe Camel only needs a surface level explanation for apathetic or ethical medical assistance to pass it of no more questions asked, without the hassle that breaching plausible deniability brings (in the event that other means of safety net in Joe Camel's jurisdiction aren't known of.

 This is a 'solution' which transcends OP's specific question and may be useful information in the future for another reader who may not live where patient privacy is honored as much, if for some reason they set their mind on going to the doctor and explaining it away as a spider bite. i know a chick that had a major affection for the injectable happy sauce.  her preferred location was her thighs.  apparently she was very inexperienced and had quite a few abscesses as a result, all up and down both her thighs. at some point she was in a car accident which resulted in even more scaring to her legs so now she looks like freddy kruger and jason were using her legs to practice whittling on.

its a shame...she had hot legs previously and has to wear pants or long dresses to hide the markings.
